Vicente Luque (-170) vs. Belal Muhammad (+150)

The headliner of UFC Vegas 51 is a five-round welterweight bout between Vicente Luque and Belal Muhammad. This should be an amazing fight between two of the best welterweights in the world. Luque is a -170 favorite on betting sites, with Muhammad pegged as a +150 underdog.

This fight is actually a rematch as Luque and Muhammad previously met in the UFC back in 2016, with Luque winning the fight by first-round knockout. In the years since then, both men have improved their games and upped their stock. Each is now a legitimate top-five contender at 170lbs. This rematch is pivotal for both fighters’ careers as the winner of the matchup will move one step closer to getting a title shot in a stacked welterweight division.

Both Luque and Muhammad are phenomenal fighters, though they work very differently. Luque is one of the best strikers in the weight class and he also has one of the best submission games. Muhammad, meanwhile, is one of the top wrestlers in the weight class. The fight will likely come down to who can dictate where the fight takes place. If it stays standing, Luque has the best chance to win, but if it goes to the ground, Muhammad has the edge.

Although Muhammad has a path to victory with his wrestling, I still think Luque has more ways to win this fight as he can win by both knockout and by submission. I think Luque is one of the most underappreciated fighters on the roster right now and hopefully, he picks up some new UFC betting fans after winning his first main event. I’m going with Luque to win this fight at -165 odds, and for more value, you can take him to win the fight inside the distance at +120 odds.

The Pick: Vicente Luque at -170 with DraftKings

Alternative Pick: Vicente Luque wins inside the distance at +120 with DraftKings

Gadzhi Omargadzhiev (-135) vs. Caio Borralho (+115)

The co-main event is a middleweight bout between Gadzhi Omargadzhiev and Caio Borralho. Omargadzhiev is a -135 favorite, while Borralho is a +115 underdog. This is a very intriguing fight between two prospects at 185lbs, but I’m taking the underdog Borralho.

Both of these fighters competed in Dana White’s Contender Series last fall and each picked up wins to get them to the UFC. Omargadzhiev defeated his opponent with a spectacular submission, while Borralho picked up two wins, one by decision and one by knockout. Both fighters appear to be top prospects and the winner will get a big step up for their next fight.

That being said, other than the fight on the Contender Series, there just isn’t a whole lot of footage out there on Omargadzhiev. Yes, he’s unbeaten, but there isn’t much to go on besides his reputation and his record. Borrahlo, meanwhile, has a ton of fight footage available and he is a really well-rounded fighter who can both strike and take you to the ground.

I’m going with the more proven fighter, and I believe it’s Borralho. The win he had over Aaron Jeffery in the Contender Series showed me that he’s the real deal, and I’m going to take Borralho here at +115 odds.

The Pick: Caio Borralho at +115 with DraftKings

Alternative Pick: Caio Borralho wins by decision at +400 with DraftKings

Mounir Lazzez (-200) vs. Ange Loosa (+170)

One of the better fights on the card is a welterweight bout between Mounir Lazzez and Ange Loosa, who is making his UFC debut on short notice after Elizeu Zaleski dos Santos withdrew with an injury earlier this week. Lazzez is a -200 favorite while Loosa is a +170 underdog. Despite taking the fight on short notice, I am picking the underdog Loosa to win the fight.

Loosa was another fighter who appeared on Dana White’s Contender Series last year. He lost a decision to Jack Della Maddalena, but he showed a ton of skill in the fight and it was only a matter of time until he got the call to the big leagues. Two weeks ago, Loosa fought for the XMMA promotion and he defeated UFC veteran John Howard. The fact he fought so recently shows me that Loosa is in fight shape so I’m not as concerned with the short notice here.

Lazzez, meanwhile, has been in the UFC for nearly two years but he has only fought twice in the promotion. In his debut, he defeated Abdul Razak Alhassan in a major upset, but then he lost to Warlley Alves as the favorite in his next fight and he hasn’t fought in over a year since then. Lazzez is a talented striker, but I’m not convinced about his overall MMA game.

I believe Loosa’s wrestling, toughness, and forward pressure will be the keys to him winning this fight. I’m taking a shot on Loosa as the underdog at +170 odds. For extra value, you can also take a look at him to win by decision.

The Pick: Ange Loosa at +170 with Caesars

Alternative Pick: Ange Loosa wins by decision at +350 with Caesars
