Leicester City's relegation from the Premier League means that the future of James Maddison is under the spotlight. Bookies now anticipate that the midfielder will imminently sign for Tottenham Hotspur, with the player in advanced talks with the London club.

It would appear that Spurs have muscled ahead of Newcastle United to capture this star talent despite the fact that they are not in Europe next season. There's a possibility Spurs lose Harry Kane, but Maddison appears keen to be part of Ange Postecoglou's new-look team, and he could shine for a Tottenham side who can focus purely on domestic matters.

Newcastle were unsuccessful in their pursuit of the England international last summer, with the player going to Qatar as part of Gareth Southgate's World Cup squad but failed to get any minutes. The latest odds with football betting sites now suggest that Tottenham and new manager Postecoglou have convinced this talented player to join them instead.

With Newcastle having qualified for the Champions League, some anticipated they were more of an attractive proposition. However, Tottenham have gone in hot pursuit of the playmaker, and there are rumours of a £50 million combined bid for both him and Harvey Barnes in an attempt to bolster their squad.

Tottenham Also Likely To Bid for Leicester Playmaker

Although Tottenham Hotspur cannot offer James Maddison the chance to play Champions League football next season, Spurs look willing to put a lucrative deal on the table and they're in advanced talks with the player. The London club had a disappointing season, and new manager Ange Postecoglou will likely be given plenty of money to rebuild the squad in the summer and aim to make some astute signings.

Maddison is tried and tested in the Premier League, having shone for Leicester since arriving from Norwich City. If Harry Kane were to leave Spurs this summer, it would certainly free up the sort of funds to sign a big-money player who might not have hit the peak of his career yet.

Perhaps living in the capital would appeal to Maddison at this stage of his career, and Tottenham remain a big club despite their relatively lowly finish last season. New betting sites can see Spurs being an interested party as Leicester look to make as much money as possible from any potential deal.

Can Newcastle Prove Successful in Maddison Pursuit?

Newcastle United had a number of unsuccessful bids for James Maddison last summer, but could they get their man this time around? While Brendan Rodgers was fierce in his determination to retain the midfielder’s services 12 months ago, Leicester are in a position where they can no longer keep a player who will hope to represent England at Euro 2024.

There have been several reports indicating that Maddison is keen on a switch to St. James’ Park, and it’s easy to see him slotting into the current Newcastle team. Having scored 43 times in 162 appearances for Leicester, he will bring goals to any side and would have the quality to compete in the Champions League for Eddie Howe's side.

It's been reported that Newcastle will lodge a bid, and Maddison would undoubtedly become a popular player among the supporters due to his technical ability, which could see him link up well with the likes of Bruno Guimaraes and Joelinton. A move to Newcastle is top of many markets on several betting apps.

Manchester United Also Among Favourites to Sign Maddison

Manchester United are close to being in the hands of new owners who will perhaps look to make James Maddison one of their marquee signings this summer. The Red Devils have also been strongly linked to Harry Kane, and a double swoop for these England players could be on the cards, with funds certainly available. It also appears that Mason Mount could also be heading to the north-west giants.

Erik ten Hag has done a fantastic job during his first season in charge at Old Trafford and will now hope to strengthen his squad ahead of the 2023/24 campaign. He will want United to not only challenge for the Premier League title but also go deep in the Champions League. Maddison is one of the players who can help United reach new levels.

There was a shortage of goals with United last season, scoring just 58 goals in 38 league games. There was an over-reliance on Marcus Rashford to score, while Christian Eriksen missed some of the campaign through injury. Bringing in the Leicester midfielder would add a new dimension to the team’s attack, and it’s not a move we can easily rule out.

Would Maddison Fit Into Liverpool’s Style of Play?

James Maddison could have the choice of several different Premier League clubs this summer including Liverpool. The Merseyside outfit will be playing Europa League football next term, which is still a highly attractive proposition for any incoming player. The 26-year-old might feel as though the next chapter of his career lies at Anfield with this historic club.

Maddison’s excellent technical ability means that he could slot into Liverpool's style of play and be a chance-creator for the likes of Mohamed Salah, Darwin Nunez, Diogo Jota and Cody Gakpo. Jurgen Klopp is most likely to be interested in a player who can operate in a number of different roles.

However, there’s a feeling Liverpool might want to promote Curtis Jones and Harvey Elliott more in those positions, while defensive midfield is possibly where reinforcements could be required.
