Pep Guardiola feels as though seven years is enough time to be in charge at Manchester City and this means that the current campaign at the Etihad Stadium is his penultimate one. After winning the Premier League and the Carabao Cup in the last campaign, Guardiola will want to add more trophies this season and next before stepping down when his contract expires at the end of the 2022-23 season.

Guardiola has revolutionised the fortunes of Manchester City after securing three Premier League titles in the space of the past four seasons, with the former Barcelona manager having landed a spate of silverware since arriving in England. It only leaves the Champions League left to win.

Speculation will intensify over which manager will take charge of Manchester City for the 2023-24 season and we’ve seen Brendan Rodgers and Mauricio Pochettino installed as the joint favourites, with the Leicester City manager having also been linked with the Arsenal manager’s position in the past few months.

Pochettino is currently in charge at Paris Saint-Germain although it might be a logical step for the Argentine to return to England and manage Manchester City, while Nuno Espirito Santo has started well at Tottenham and could be another interested contender if he continues to do well in north London.

Could Brendan Rodgers Be a Good Fit for Manchester City?

Brendan Rodgers has done some excellent work at Leicester City, beating Manchester City in the final to win the FA Cup with the Midlands club last season. He’s clearly ambitious as can be seen from the fact that he was in charge at Liverpool and then proved successful with Celtic before heading back south of the border to take charge of the Foxes who have become a leading club in England.

Although Leicester narrowly missed out on a Champions League spot for the past two seasons, Rodgers’ stock continues to be high and he'll have his sights set on a top four finish this season

Rodgers has built a squad packed with quality while also continuing to get the best out of Jamie Vardy. The Northern Irishman might think that he’s due a change of his own in a couple of years’ time and there’s the obvious possibility that he might feel as though he’s taken Leicester as far as he can.

Pochettino Might Be Ready to Leave the PSG Project in 2023

Mauricio Pochettino is currently looking to achieve great things with Paris Saint-Germain and the Argentine recently managed to persuade Lionel Messi to arrive in the French capital to boost PSG's chances of landing multiple trophies this season and they’re among the Champions League favourites and front runners to win back their Ligue 1 title from Lille.

However, this is a club that have changed their manager on a frequent basis and Pochettino will be fully aware of the vacancy that is going to become available at Manchester City in two seasons’ time, with there being the delicious possibility that Poch could be reunited with Kane at the Etihad Stadium further down the line.

Nuno Could Make Switch from Spurs to City

Nuno Espirito Santo might not have been first choice to take charge at Tottenham Hotspur although the Portuguese is determined to grab the opportunity with both hands. He’s won his first two matches with Spurs and also helped persuade Harry Kane to remain at the club, with the manager potentially about to steer the North London club back to the Champions League and that might impress potential suitors at Man City.

Nuno previously achieved great things with Wolves when achieving promotion from the Championship to the Premier League and then qualifying for the Europa League at the first time of asking. The Spurs manager is clearly ambitious and open to the prospect of managing one of the best football teams in Europe even if Guardiola will be a tough act to follow.

Vieira Needs to Prove Himself at Palace

Patrick Vieira has obvious connections with Manchester City although the Frenchman is currently employed at Crystal Palace and the former Arsenal midfielder will hope to make a decent fist of things at Selhurst Park, with Vieira knowing that Roy Hodgson could be a difficult act to follow, although he will hope to eventually make the Eagles soar.

Vieira has not got off to the best of starts as Palace manager and he will hope to be given time to stamp his authority on the way the Eagles play. However, the Frenchman is among the favourites to be the first manager sacked this season.

Vieira is a relatively unproven coach although the bookies have him among the favourites to take charge at Manchester City when Pep Guardiola’s time is up, with the French coach having enough time on his hands to shine in Premier League management before the Citizens decide the best option.
