Middlesbrough are due to start their search for a new manager after current boss Rob Edwards looks set to take charge at Wolves. Edwards' team drew plaudits for the way they played, and he even has them in the automatic promotion spots, but the chance to make the jump to Premier League management was too good of an opportunity for him to turn down.
The best betting apps in town have been linking some big names to the club, with none more so than one of the early favourites Steven Gerrard. Gerrard hugely impressed in his first role at Rangers but has flattered to deceive since and could look at this as a great opportunity. Brendan Rodgers, Gary O'Neil and Carlos Corberan are among the other names bandied around at new betting sites for the Middlesbrough hot seat.

Steven Gerrard Early Favourite For Role
In his first job as a manager, Steven Gerrard led Rangers to their first SPL title since their relegation in 2012, and he did it in style. Rangers went through the league campaign undefeated, with Gerrard leaving to go to Aston Villa early the following season.
After an unsuccessful spell as Villa manager, Gerrard joined Al-Ettifaq in Saudi Arabia in 2023 but has been jobless since then. With his footballing pedigree, he’d be a great acquisition for a club like Middlesbrough, with ambitions of getting to the big time. It’s no surprise to see him near the top of the betting with football betting sites.
Southgate Ready For Return After Leaving England
Since stepping down as England manager, Gareth Southgate has kept himself busy giving speeches and writing a soon-to-be-released book. Middlesbrough is where his managerial career began and Boro would surely welcome him back with open arms.
Whether or not Southgate is looking to return to management, let alone at a Championship side, remains the question. He’s been a popular choice at top UK betting sites, but may not even consider himself in the running.

Gary O'Neil Ready To Manage Again
Gary O’Neil has been waiting on the sidelines for almost a year since being fired from Wolves in December last year with the club in 19th place, so could be tapped to take a Championship job for the first time. The ex-Middlesbrough midfielder earned plaudits for his first season at Wolves after guiding them to the FA Cup quarter-finals, but was unable to transfer that across to the Premier League.
With exactly 100 games of management experience to his name, O’Neil may prefer to add to that in the Premier League rather than attempting to earn promotion at the club where he played 109 games, but he is favourite with the best betting apps at this early stage.

Would Brendan Rodgers Return to Championship?
Brendan hasn’t managed in the Championship since guiding Swansea to the promised land of the Premier League in 2011, and that is probably the reason why Middlesbrough may attempt to land him, but you get the feeling after managing exclusively in the top divisions since then he probably feels he is above joining a Championship side.
Rodgers' attacking football would be welcomed at Middlesbrough, especially as he has seen previous success with it in the Championship, so it’s no surprise that he’s linked with the job at Middlesbrough at most £5 deposit betting sites as they do look capable of making a return to the top flight this season.
