Norwich City began the 2023/24 Championship season strongly, recording a string of wins that saw the Canaries riding high at the top of the table. However, they then struggled in the autumn and were at one point closer to the relegation places than the playoff spots. The Canaries persevered with David Wagner, and he led them to the playoffs.

However, they were dumped out of contention for a return to the Premier League after being thumped 4-0 by Leeds in the second leg of the playoff semi-finals. This led the Norwich board to move and remove David Wagner from his duties. Football betting sites have been pricing up the market and think that sporting director Ben Knapper's Arsenal connection could lead them to Gunners assistant manager Carlos Cuesta. Will Still made a big name for himself with Reims in France, and he is a man in demand after leaving the Ligue 1 team. Betting sites think he could be the one to watch at Carrow Road.

There are some other big names in the market, according to the latest odds found on the best betting apps. These include former Nottingham Forest manager Steve Cooper, Liam Rosenior, who was recently sacked by Hull and David Moyes, who is leaving West Ham.

Rosenior has jumped to near the top of the betting, and he has been joined by a relative unknown in management circles in Johannes Hoff Thorup. The 35-year-old Dane has been in charge of Nordsjaelland since January 2023, and he led the team to a runner-up spot in the Danish Superliga in his first season in charge. he has been shortened from 16/1 Tuesday into 5/4 Wednesday and now odds on, so football betting sites clearly think something could be brewing.

Next Permanent Norwich City Manager

Norwich City were expecting to be playing in the Premier League next season under David Wagner, but now the likes of Frank Lampard, Scott Parker and Wayne Rooney are being linked with taking the team to another level next year.

Will Still Being Considered for the Role?

Will Still was thought to have been in conversation with Sunderland over the vacant manager's role at the Stadium of Light, but he has emerged as a strong contender for the same job at Norwich. Time will tell if he is the sort of appointment who excite the expectant Yellows fans.

Will Arsenal Connection Lead to Cuesta Appointment?

Ben Knapper took over from Stuart Webber as Norwich's sporting director last season. Knapper had previously worked with Arsenal as their loans manager, and UK betting sites think the Arsenal connection could mean the next appointment comes from Mikel Arteta's backroom staff. Carlos Cuesta is a 28-year-old Spaniard who would be making his first foray into management after enjoying two spells as a youth assistant at Atletico Madrid and Juventus before joining Arteta and Arsenal in 2020.

Scott Parker Has a Championship Promotion on His CV

Scott Parker was among the favourites with new betting sites to become the next Norwich City manager last December when Norwich were looking for a new boss. However, he was overlooked in favour of David Wagner and might be in the running for this position once again.

The 43-year-old has held three managerial positions, starting with Fulham between 2019-21, although it was his time with Bournemouth that saw the former England midfielder engineer a promotion to the Premier League.

Shortly into the 2022/23 season, Parker was relieved of first-team duties and went on to have a short spell in charge of Club Brugge. However, he might now be looking for a fresh challenge and that could come at Carrow Road.

Liam Rosenior Available After Hull Sacking

It was widely believed that Liam Rosenior had done a good job with Hull City this season, but when they failed to make the playoffs on the final day of the Championship season, Rosenior was sent on his way. It was his first permanent managerial role, and he led them away from any relegation danger initially last season before building on that this season with an impressive seventh place finish, one spot behind Norwich. He is likely to be a sought after manager in the Championship.

Would Wayne Rooney's Reputation Bring Him to City?

Wayne Rooney is such a huge name in football that he is bound to find a way back into management despite a terrible time of things in charge of Birmingham this season and a less than stellar spell in charge of DC United. He performed admirably with Derby County the season they were relegated back to League One, and he would be an interesting choice if Knapper wanted to make a splash.

Frank Lampard Ready for Management Return?

Another big name who could be looking for a return to management to restore his reputation is Frank Lampard. He cut his teeth with Derby and brought them to the brink of promotion to the Premier League and then took Chelsea into the Champions League before his return to the club soured and he was sacked.

Then followed an ill-fated stint in charge of Everton, even if he did keep them in the Premier League in his first season. He then returned to Chelsea for a particularly unsuccessful time in charge after Graham Potter had been sacked at Stamford Bridge. He would be a star name, but it remains to be seen if the fans would get behind him.
