Salford City reached the League Two play-offs last season, but it’s been a much tougher campaign for the Manchester club this time around. The Ammies currently sit 21^st in the table just two places above the relegation zone, with Neil Wood having recently been sacked as manager of the under-performing team.

Football betting sites have a Next Salford City Manager betting market, with Karl Robinson trading as the current favourite. The 43-year-old’s long spell with Oxford United ended last year, and he could be the right man to improve fortunes at the Peninsula Stadium.

Paul Hurst is also a viable candidate who performed well with Grimsby Town in League Two before his departure in October last year. Ryan Giggs has the obvious connection considering that he is one of several Manchester United ex-players who runs the club and makes the decisions on the next manager. 

Will Salford Hire Robinson As Next Manager?

Karl Robinson has a strong managerial track record, and it would come as no surprise to find the 43-year-old installed as the next Salford City boss. He has north-west links considering he’s from Merseyside, and many of his earlier coaching appointments were in the north-west, where he oversaw the fortunes of Prescot Cables, St Helen’s Town and Warrington Town.

Robinson’s professional managerial career has seen him take charge at Milton Keynes Dons, Charlton Athletic and Oxford United. He was able to guide the Dons to promotion from League One during the 2014/15 season and could be a strong hire for this League Two club who have been on a bad run of games. Most betting sites think he could be the man for the job.

Paul Hurst Could Fit the Bill at Salford

Paul Hurst has enjoyed plenty of success during his managerial career, and a lot of this has been achieved at Grimsby Town. The Mariners were able to get promoted back to the Football League after a dramatic play-off campaign in 2022, while their first season back in League Two also saw them reach the quarter-final stage of the FA Cup.

However, a poor start to the 2023/24 campaign meant that Hurst parted company with Grimsby, and he is now a free agent. There have also been spells with Scunthorpe United, Ipswich Town and Shrewsbury Town, with the manager’s knowhow of League Two being a big plus and is one of the candidates, according to most betting apps.

Ryan Giggs Might Be a Surprise Appointment

At the age of 50, perhaps Ryan Giggs is ready to return to management. The former Wales boss doesn’t have a good deal of club experience, but he does have a stake in the club and could feel he could make a better fist of things. 

Giggs is something of an unknown quantity considering he’s only ever been part of a coaching team with Manchester United or Wales, it’s plausible that the Class of 92 will give him a chance of improving the fortunes of the team with their backing, especially if he is able to bring in some quality assistants. Paul Ince Could Be Another Ex-United Player on Shortlist

Paul Ince has managed no fewer than six clubs during his career, including MK Dons on two occasions. He started out with Macclesfield Town before taking charge of the Dons and then came an ill-fated spell at Blackburn Rovers in the Premier League before the former Manchester United midfielder returned to Milton Keynes.

Since then, there have been more recent tenures at Notts County, Blackpool and Reading, with Ince initially guiding the Royals to safety in the 2021/22 season before he was sacked last season with the club sitting 22^nd in the Championship table. He could be open to the idea of linking up with his former United team-mates and aiming to improve things at the Peninsula Stadium.
