Premier League Top Four Odds 2026/27
Finishing in the top four used to be a nice bonus for a big club having a good year. These days it's treated as close to a minimum requirement at several clubs, and the money on offer through Champions League qualification explains exactly why.
Pre-season always throws up a familiar shape to this market - the usual four or five names sitting at the shorter end, with a chasing pack hoping one of the favourites at betting sites has an off year. But things change up once the first few weeks of the season have been completed.
We've broken down where each of the contenders stands below. There's also an explainer on the extra Champions League spot that's changed how this market actually pays out in recent seasons, plus everything else worth knowing before backing a team for the top four at your chosen football betting site.
As ever, we've focused on the teams where there's real value in the discussion rather than restating the obvious for the sides like Arsenal and Manchester City who are already treated as near-certainties, even if we await City's punishment from the Premier League over their financial fair play misdeeds.
It's worth a word of caution, too, since this market has burned plenty of short-odds backers in recent seasons. Manchester United were fancied for a top-four finish at plenty of betting apps before finishing 15th in 2024/25. Chelsea were priced at 4/7 for the top four last season and ended up 10th. Liverpool opened last season around 1/6 for a top-four finish as reigning champions and still only scraped fifth. Short prices here are far from a guarantee, which also means some value could be had on relative outsiders.

Top Four Race Contenders
Arsenal and Manchester City are both priced up as almost guarantees for the top four before a ball's been kicked, so we've ignored them - even if the early going in the season might bring them both back into the picture. The intrigue this season sits further down the market.
Liverpool
Liverpool got their Premier League top-four push underway with a trip to St James' Park to face a rebuilding Newcastle and needed a stoppage-time Dominik Szoboszlai penalty in the 99th minute just to salvage a 2-2 draw. They could only manage the same scoreline against Nottingham Forest a week later before finally claiming a victory with a confident 2-0 win at Ipswich Town last weekend. They could only manage a tame draw with lowly Fulham in response. They got their second win of the campaign away at Bournemouth.
Manchester United
Consistency has been United's biggest problem in recent years, far more than a lack of individual quality, so keeping last season's improvement going matters more than any single result early on. They are still seen as one of the favourites for the top four at most Google Pay betting sites, even after their disastrous 2-0 defat to Hull in their opener.
They managed to back that up with a resounding 5-2 win over Ipswich in the second game of the season, with Bruno Fernandes helping himself to a hat-trick but were then held 2-2 by Everton despite going ahead twice. Ultimately, they sit in 12th place after five games, and Michael Carrick is already under pressure.

Chelsea
Chelsea got their own campaign underway with a 3-2 win at Fulham, a promising if slightly shaky start to the Alonso era. It's the kind of result that raises as many questions as it answers. Goals at both ends will excite the fans because of the front three's play, but the defensive stability is already in question. A 4-3 victory over Brighton will have done little to dispel those questions, especially after they nearly blew a three-goal lead, and they then lost 2-1 at champions Arsenal.
They came into the international break on the back of a 3-0 defeat to Brentford. Can they get some semblance of consistency and go on a run?
Brighton
Brighton would have been one of the teams mentioned for European qualification before the start of the season, but perhaps not Champions League football. However, five games in, and they are playing as good a football as any other team in the league.
They have wins of 4-0 and 3-0 over Tottenham and Arsenal, respectively, to start the season and sit third after coming into the international break with that thumping of the champions.
Brentford
Brentford are one of just five teams to still be unbeaten in the league. It had looked like draws might be the story of their season before the kept a clean sheet against Chelsea and highlighted every one of their flaws defensively to beat them 3-0 last time out. They will be taken seriously by the bookies for the foreseeable future for a top-four finish.
Outsiders
Aston Villa remain the most consistent name outside the traditional top six, having finished fourth, sixth and fourth across the last three seasons under Unai Emery. Their odds with most £5 deposit betting sites reflects this, but they will have to improve dramatically after picking up only one points so far.
Tottenham have finished 17th in two consecutive seasons despite European ambitions, so a lot will be on Roberto De Zerbi to improve them this year. They have started the season with two defeats and a draw, which is not what hopeful fans would have expected coming into the season. It is also a stark reminder that a top-four price on paper doesn't always match how a season actually plays out for this group.
Newcastle's previous investment has given them arguably the best long-term shout of this bunch. However, having sold Alexander Isak last season, Anthony Gordon, Sandro Tonali and Bruno Guimaraes this summer, they are likely to be in transition. The change in manager from Eddie Howe to Matthias Jaissle also adds to the challenge, but they have begun well with five points from three games.

Why a Top-Five Finish Might Also Be Enough
Top four has been the standard shorthand for Champions League qualification for years, but it hasn't told the full story for a couple of seasons now. UEFA hands out two extra Champions League places each season, known as European Performance Spots, awarded to the two associations whose clubs performed best across Europe the previous year.
England has claimed one of those bonus spots in back-to-back seasons, which is exactly how Liverpool reached the 2026/27 Champions League despite finishing fifth in the Premier League table last season. Despite this, the top four betting market itself settles strictly on final league position. Fourth pays out exactly the same as first, and fifth pays nothing regardless of whether that club actually goes on to qualify via the bonus spot.
Whether England keeps hold of that extra place again this season depends on how English clubs perform in Europe between now and the end of the campaign. It won't be clear until much closer to next summer whether England retain that spot, but nine clubs competing continentally gives the Premier League a high chance of doing so.
It's a useful distinction to keep in mind if you're weighing up a bet on a team likely to finish just outside the traditional top four. A strong European run from English clubs generally can make a fifth-placed finish worth just as much as a top-four one for the teams themselves, even though the two markets settle completely differently for punters.

How Top Four Finish Betting Works
Betting on a top-four finish falls under outright betting, the same category as backing the title winner, except you're betting on a range of finishing positions rather than one specific outcome. You can bet on a team for this market before a ball's been kicked or at any point during the season, with bookmakers adjusting the price as results come in.
Many fast withdrawal betting sites offer cash out on these markets, too, letting you settle for a guaranteed return once a team's position looks all but certain, rather than waiting the whole season for it to be confirmed. This can work both ways if you want to cash out early on a struggling favourite to limit your losses, or lock in a smaller profit on a team that's built up a healthy lead over their nearest rival.
If you're looking at a different kind of season long outcome, there's also the Premier League winner odds market for backing the outright champions, or Premier League relegation odds if you'd rather back which sides go down.
Prices in this market tend to move faster than the outright winner market, since there's more competition for four spots than there is for just one. It's worth checking back regularly through the season, particularly once the fixture list starts throwing up direct clashes between the clubs involved. This page will keep the odds updated in real time all season.
A single result between two rivals chasing the same spot can move both their prices significantly overnight, so this isn't a market to set and forget once you've placed a bet. Keeping an eye on team news and fixture congestion matters here, too, since a club juggling European football alongside a top-four push often finds their squad stretched thin when it matters most.

Premier League Top Four Odds FAQs
What does a top four finish mean in the Premier League?
A top-four finish means ending the season in one of the first four places in the Premier League table. It's historically been the benchmark for Champions League qualification, giving clubs access to Europe's biggest club competition and the substantial prize money that comes with it.
Can five teams qualify for the Champions League from the Premier League?
This has happened in recent seasons through UEFA's European Performance Spots, which are extra places awarded to the two associations that performed best in Europe the previous year. England has claimed one of these bonus spots in consecutive seasons, letting a fifth-placed Premier League club qualify alongside the top four.
How often do Premier League top four odds change?
Top-four odds shift regularly, often after every round of fixtures, and this market tends to move faster than the outright winner market since there's more competition for the available places. Expect bigger swings after direct clashes between rival clubs chasing the same top-four spot.
Can I cash out a top four finish bet before the season ends?
Many UK bookmakers do offer cash out on top-four markets, letting you lock in a guaranteed return before the season finishes rather than waiting for the final table. Availability and terms vary by operator, so it's worth checking your bet slip for the specific option.
