Tip 1 - 2:00 Chepstow - Jonny Setaside
Maidens can be difficult to call and despite a few at the top of the market battling it out for favouritism, going further down to Jonny Setaside might be just the ticket today. The five-year-old finished a solid fourth over course and distance last month in a race that saw the odds-on favourite run away with it, and today’s field looks a little more competitive so he could upset the book.

Tip 3 - 3:00 Chepstow - Diligent Militia
Diligent Militia hasn’t enjoyed himself since switching over from Ireland, but that could be because he has been running in the mud, with his point win on faster ground suggesting he enjoys it a bit quicker. He gets something a bit quicker to run on today, with some new headgear applied for good measure and that should see him to better effect. Tip 4 - 4:07 Chepstow - It’s Top
One of the most unexposed horses in the field here deserves a second chance after ironically looking rather exposed on handicap debut last time out. Had looked a progressive sort to start the year with a second to a very smart novice who subsequently finished second in the Supreme Novices’ and then a victory at Carlisle. But on handicap debut, everything that could go wrong did as he was pulled up having been out the back all the way. We’re hoping that was too bad to be true, and his progress forward will continue here in the slightly calmer waters of a 0-120.

What is the Staking Plan and How Does a 1pt Win System Work?
We advise each bet as a win single or sometimes as an each way single. You can of course choose to combine the selections in a multiple bet, a Lucky 15 or a Yankee etc and that is a very popular way to follow the horses selected in this column daily.
A 1pt win per horse is advised in general and that means whatever your normal stake is for a bet is used as a point. For many this is £1 and for some this is £10 or more but it is totally relative to the individual and shouldn’t be more than you can afford to lose at any time.
For each way selections we advise a 0.5pt each way stake. So as with the win selections this would be a £1 total bet (50 pence each way) or a £10 total bet (£5 each way).
