Tip 1 - 2:00 Carlisle - Thank You Ma’am
A tricky-looking beginners’ chase, where three of the four runners are making their debut over larger obstacles. Della Casa Lunga is nicely treated in receipt of the mares allowance, but could struggle against the boys, while First Confession has chasing experience and hasn’t looked a natural. Preference is for Thank You Ma’am. He’s gone well fresh multiple times in his career and has nothing to find with the favourite on ratings.

Tip 2 - 2:35 Carlisle - Oh Clare
Oh Clare has run at Carlisle in three of her four career races and yielded little to shout about, but returns to the north west after an impressive victory at Lingfield in December when she was 11/1. That win was over today’s distance and was on the same going so she should have no issues with either of those here in an inexperienced field.

Tip 4 - 3:35 Carlisle - Haarar
Very consistent over hurdles since the end of 2024. Seven races have yet to see him finish outside the top three and come home winner twice. One of those was last time out, when a convincing winner at Haydock in December last year. Up six pounds but should still be able to compete in this sphere from that mark. One course-and-distance visit previous to this yielded a second by a neck. He could go one better today.

What is the Staking Plan and How Does a 1pt Win System Work?
We advise each bet as a win single or sometimes as an each way single. You can of course choose to combine the selections in a multiple bet, a Lucky 15 or a Yankee etc and that is a very popular way to follow the horses selected in this column daily.
A 1pt win per horse is advised in general and that means whatever your normal stake is for a bet is used as a point. For many this is £1 and for some this is £10 or more but it is totally relative to the individual and shouldn’t be more than you can afford to lose at any time.
For each way selections we advise a 0.5pt each way stake. So as with the win selections this would be a £1 total bet (50 pence each way) or a £10 total bet (£5 each way).
