Our Horse Racing Tips Staking Plan

Each selection we advised is a bet of £10 win single per horse. This is unless it is otherwise stated that is should be a £5 each way bet.

Do be aware that betting on horse racing is difficult to win consistently. Previous performance is no guarantee of future success, and you should only bet with what you can afford to lose.

Horse Racing Betting Tips

Tip 1 - 1:15 Newmarket - Humidity

The lightly raced Humidity was improving with every run during his two year old season. The only issue here is if he is ready for this after spending a year off the track, as the conditions of the race are in his favour. If he has taken a step forward since we have last seen him he is going to take some stopping getting weight from all the market principles.

Tip 2 - 1:50 Newmarket - Wykehurst Park

There’s no double Drumbeat has the best bit of form out of this group, having finished third in a Group 2 last time out. But there are plenty here who we know very little about who could be good. Once such horse is Wykehurst Park, who won at the second time of asking last time out stepped up in trip. A further step up is bound to bring about more improvement given he is from champion stayer Stradivarius. Longer trips could well be in store for this horse in time, but the extra furlong is sure to be to his liking here.

Tip 3 - 3:40 Newmarket - Dawn Rising

Despite there being almost 30 runners, it may pay to focus on last year’s first and second from the race. The 2025 running saw Dawn Rising hit the front a furlong out before being pounced on late by Beylerbeyi. The latter is now rated 10 pounds higher, while the former runs off the same mark as a year ago. Ryan Moore takes over in the saddle and we should see a completely transformed Dawn Rising, whose disappointing runs this season were likely just stepping stones towards this target.

Tip 4 - 4.50 Newmarket – Majestic Jude

Majestic Jude shook off a fifth on debut at Yarmouth to win his most recent two, putting him on a hat trick for his first handicap attempt. That fifth place was notable in that he was only 1.5 lengths behind the winner and went off at 16/1, so a comfortable win at Newmarket in August wasn’t much of a surprise and neither was victory at Thirsk last month. His mark of 91 is perhaps concerning but it doesn’t look enough to keep him out of the mix.

What is the Staking Plan and How Does a 1pt Win System Work?

We advise each bet as a win single or sometimes as an each way single. You can of course choose to combine the selections in a multiple bet, a Lucky 15 or a Yankee etc and that is a very popular way to follow the horses selected in this column daily.

A 1pt win per horse is advised in general and that means whatever your normal stake is for a bet is used as a point. For many this is £1 and for some this is £10 or more but it is totally relative to the individual and shouldn’t be more than you can afford to lose at any time.

For each way selections we advise a 0.5pt each way stake. So as with the win selections this would be a £1 total bet (50 pence each way) or a £10 total bet (£5 each way).

Where Can I Watch the Daily Horse Racing Selections Run?

The best place is always on the racecourse but that’s not very practical so when it’s not on terrestrial TV with the likes of Sky Sports Racing and ITV (or ITV 4) then the best way to get instant access to live pictures is with a live streaming bookmaker – try these three below for the best of the bunch. We've also got a page specifically dedicated to Cheltenham Festival live streaming.
