Our Horse Racing Tips Staking Plan

Each selection we advised is a bet of £10 win single per horse. This is unless it is otherwise stated that is should be a £5 each way bet.

Do be aware that betting on horse racing is difficult to win consistently. Previous performance is no guarantee of future success, and you should only bet with what you can afford to lose.

Horse Racing Betting Tips

Tip 1 - 2:10 Punchestown - Silly Mongoose

There’s not a huge amount of recent convincing form to work with from this field. One exception to that is Silly Mongoose. A winner at Kilbeggan in May, he was a close third at Clonmel a couple of weeks ago, suggesting there may be some mileage in his mark. The fourth and fifth from that Clonmel race have won since, so it’s one of the more substantial pieces of form on offer.

Tip 2 - 2:35 Southwell - Jamada

After winning a bumper and over hurdles Jamada tackles fences for the first time and he could well improve for the bigger obstacles. He’s in here off 108 which gives him lots of headroom from where you would expect him to get to at some point this season, it is just a question of whether his jumping is slick enough at this early stage to be able to pick up the win.

Tip 3 - 3:30 Hereford - Donnie Azoff

In sparkling form this year with a win and three seconds, Donnie Azoff looks primed to be right up there once again today. He was second over course and distance in May when 17/2 and his rating is now 1lb less than that, with Isabelle Ryder taking off 5lbs again. She has ridden the 10-year-old on each of his last seven runs and that partnership could pay dividends again.

Tip 4 - 4:25 Wolverhampton - Sanditon

Although Sanditon is certainly no superstar, he is capable at this sort of level. A course and distance winner back in June, he again ran well here when second last month. The draw over this trip at Wolverhampton is crucial and, in Stall 2, he’s arguably landed in the best spot possible. In decent form at a track he likes and with Harry Vigors claiming three pounds, everything looks to be in place for a big run.

What is the Staking Plan and How Does a 1pt Win System Work?

We advise each bet as a win single or sometimes as an each way single. You can of course choose to combine the selections in a multiple bet, a Lucky 15 or a Yankee etc and that is a very popular way to follow the horses selected in this column daily.

A 1pt win per horse is advised in general and that means whatever your normal stake is for a bet is used as a point. For many this is £1 and for some this is £10 or more but it is totally relative to the individual and shouldn’t be more than you can afford to lose at any time.

For each way selections we advise a 0.5pt each way stake. So as with the win selections this would be a £1 total bet (50 pence each way) or a £10 total bet (£5 each way).

Where Can I Watch the Daily Horse Racing Selections Run?

The best place is always on the racecourse but that’s not very practical so when it’s not on terrestrial TV with the likes of Sky Sports Racing and ITV (or ITV 4) then the best way to get instant access to live pictures is with a live streaming bookmaker – try these three below for the best of the bunch. We've also got a page specifically dedicated to Cheltenham Festival live streaming.
