Our Horse Racing Tips Staking Plan

Each selection we advised is a bet of £10 win single per horse. This is unless it is otherwise stated that is should be a £5 each way bet.

Do be aware that betting on horse racing is difficult to win consistently. Previous performance is no guarantee of future success, and you should only bet with what you can afford to lose.

Horse Racing Betting Tips

Tip 1 - 2:20 Ffos Las - Pourquoi Pas Papa

There are unknowns everywhere you look in this race with all making their first forays over the bigger obstacles. Pourquoi Pas papa made decent strides last season over hurdles, finishing in the top three in every race other than the Fred Winter, where he was a creditable fourth behind a good one in Saratoga. Still only four and with plenty of unrealised potential at present, he could take a further step forward chasing.

Tip 2 - 2:35 Wetherby - Virtual Rock

Things couldn’t have started better for Virtual Rock in his new yard, having won both his races since switching last month. The first of those was over 2m4f and he won well at 33/1, with the resulting 7lbs rise not enough to stop him being victorious again a week later. He goes up another 2lbs today but his overall hurdles form of 21811 is impressive and he looks the one to beat.

Tip 3 - 2:45 Punchestown - Astelia

Having finished second an astonishing eight times from her first 11 runs over hurdles, Astelia finally got her head in front last time out. She won readily, making most to beat a Willie Mullins mare by five lengths, with a massive gap back to the third. There’s every chance that win could provide a massive confidence boost, and further success could be on the way.

Tip 4 - 2:55 Ffos Las - Lermoos Legend

In these Veteran’s Chases half the battle is finding something which is going to run a race, there is no issue with Lermoos Legend who is always there at the finish. He was unlucky to be just touched off last time out when well clear of the remainder and could have got more than 2lb for that run. He is 2lb out of the handicap today but James Murray takes off 7lb with his claim which should help the cause.

What is the Staking Plan and How Does a 1pt Win System Work?

We advise each bet as a win single or sometimes as an each way single. You can of course choose to combine the selections in a multiple bet, a Lucky 15 or a Yankee etc and that is a very popular way to follow the horses selected in this column daily.

A 1pt win per horse is advised in general and that means whatever your normal stake is for a bet is used as a point. For many this is £1 and for some this is £10 or more but it is totally relative to the individual and shouldn’t be more than you can afford to lose at any time.

For each way selections we advise a 0.5pt each way stake. So as with the win selections this would be a £1 total bet (50 pence each way) or a £10 total bet (£5 each way).

Where Can I Watch the Daily Horse Racing Selections Run?

The best place is always on the racecourse but that’s not very practical so when it’s not on terrestrial TV with the likes of Sky Sports Racing and ITV (or ITV 4) then the best way to get instant access to live pictures is with a live streaming bookmaker – try these three below for the best of the bunch. We've also got a page specifically dedicated to Cheltenham Festival live streaming.
