Our Horse Racing Tips Staking Plan

Each selection we advised is a bet of £10 win single per horse. This is unless it is otherwise stated that is should be a £5 each way bet.

Do be aware that betting on horse racing is difficult to win consistently. Previous performance is no guarantee of future success, and you should only bet with what you can afford to lose.

Horse Racing Betting Tips

Tip 1 - 1:44 Fontwell - Motazzen

Seeking a hat trick after consecutive wins here last month, Motazzen is now a two-time course and distance winner at Fontwell and has won on five his 10 races here overall. The eight-year-old is approaching the limit of his handicap mark at 112, although the in-form Richard Upton claims 7lbs of that, and a small field should lead to a tight race he can come out on top in.

Tip 2 - 2:30 Perth - Chasingouttheblues

Chasingouttheblues looked to be on the up and up last season when sent chasing. First three results, he looked too green over the bigger obstacles before three wins from four led him to go off at 11/2 in the Scottish National. He finished a creditable fifth in the field and comes into this race a pound lighter for it too. Back to a distance that he’s comfortable with over three miles in Class 3 company, and if he’s ready to go after a six-month break, he should be there or thereabouts.

Tip 3 - 2:47 Curragh - Suir Monad

Having been third in a couple of maidens, Suir Monad upped his game significantly when switched to handicapping last time out. He made all that day, over a furlong shorter than today’s trip, but has run creditably over this sort of distance before. His yard continues in fine form, operating at a 20% strike rate over the last couple of weeks. He may well be able to continue to progress.

Tip 4 - 3:05 Perth - Magnolia

With race fitness on her side Magnolia should be able to get back to the winning ways of last year. Having probably got too high in the weights after back-to-back wins over hurdles, she is now 2lb below her last winning mark. Magnolia was staying on last time out so it looked like she was just out of position rather lacking the ability to win. With the same jockey on board as last time we shouldn’t see the same issue, it would be no surprise to see her gain compensation here.

What is the Staking Plan and How Does a 1pt Win System Work?

We advise each bet as a win single or sometimes as an each way single. You can of course choose to combine the selections in a multiple bet, a Lucky 15 or a Yankee etc and that is a very popular way to follow the horses selected in this column daily.

A 1pt win per horse is advised in general and that means whatever your normal stake is for a bet is used as a point. For many this is £1 and for some this is £10 or more but it is totally relative to the individual and shouldn’t be more than you can afford to lose at any time.

For each way selections we advise a 0.5pt each way stake. So as with the win selections this would be a £1 total bet (50 pence each way) or a £10 total bet (£5 each way).

Where Can I Watch the Daily Horse Racing Selections Run?

The best place is always on the racecourse but that’s not very practical so when it’s not on terrestrial TV with the likes of Sky Sports Racing and ITV (or ITV 4) then the best way to get instant access to live pictures is with a live streaming bookmaker – try these three below for the best of the bunch. We've also got a page specifically dedicated to Cheltenham Festival live streaming.
