Our Horse Racing Tips Staking Plan

Each selection we advised is a bet of £10 win single per horse. This is unless it is otherwise stated that is should be a £5 each way bet.

Do be aware that betting on horse racing is difficult to win consistently. Previous performance is no guarantee of future success, and you should only bet with what you can afford to lose.

Horse Racing Betting Tips

Tip 1 - 2:02 Uttoxeter - Post Chaise

Post Chaise looks really intriguing now making a second appearance of the season. The first was his first race for 554 days, and the hope is he’ll be quite a bit fitter for that run. If he is, the nine-year-old has previous winning form from today’s mark of 110 twice before and has better form than almost all of his rivals in this race. However, there have clearly been health issues, which will be a reason for the bigger price. But if he’s back to it, he is better than the others and could show that.

Tip 2 - 2:17 Haydock - Empirestateofmind

Recent form figures of 1212 show exactly the kind of form Empirestateofmind finds himself in. He’s gone up eight pounds as a result, but is still very nicely handicapped based on his old form. Despite the climb in the weights, he’s still rated 12 pounds lower than for a win last October. Trip and ground look to be ideal for him and he has a huge chance.

Tip 3 - 3:12 Uttoxeter - Miss Maverick

Fresh off a victory over this distance at Worcester back here in July, Miss Maverick is back at Uttoxeter going in search of her fifth course and distance victory here. She’s now operating at a mark of 124, which has been her undoing before but it’s only 2lbs up from that win in summer and the experience of Sean Bowen on board may prove to be the difference.

Tip 4 - 3:27 Haydock - Crazy Cubana

Crazy Cubana showed drastic improvement last time out at Chester. Such was the step up in form, she was randomly tested post-race. Her connections believe she appreciated the heavy ground, which she encounters again today. Haydock and Chester are chalk and cheese as far as tracks go, so she does have something to prove. She’s in form though, and a proven ability to handle heavy ground is a massive plus.

What is the Staking Plan and How Does a 1pt Win System Work?

We advise each bet as a win single or sometimes as an each way single. You can of course choose to combine the selections in a multiple bet, a Lucky 15 or a Yankee etc and that is a very popular way to follow the horses selected in this column daily.

A 1pt win per horse is advised in general and that means whatever your normal stake is for a bet is used as a point. For many this is £1 and for some this is £10 or more but it is totally relative to the individual and shouldn’t be more than you can afford to lose at any time.

For each way selections we advise a 0.5pt each way stake. So as with the win selections this would be a £1 total bet (50 pence each way) or a £10 total bet (£5 each way).

Where Can I Watch the Daily Horse Racing Selections Run?

The best place is always on the racecourse but that’s not very practical so when it’s not on terrestrial TV with the likes of Sky Sports Racing and ITV (or ITV 4) then the best way to get instant access to live pictures is with a live streaming bookmaker – try these three below for the best of the bunch. We've also got a page specifically dedicated to Cheltenham Festival live streaming.
