Our Horse Racing Tips Staking Plan

Each selection we advised is a bet of £10 win single per horse. This is unless it is otherwise stated that is should be a £5 each way bet.

Do be aware that betting on horse racing is difficult to win consistently. Previous performance is no guarantee of future success, and you should only bet with what you can afford to lose.

Horse Racing Betting Tips

Tip 1 - 1:30 Ascot - Highwayman

Kept up excellent recent form after finding footing in longer distances with an emphatic St Leger win last time out. Keeps finding more the further he goes, and once again upped in trip to two miles. Still gets a very handy weight allowance for a three-year-old, which could make all the difference when thundering down the home straight.

Tip 2 - 2:10 Catterick - Parisian Scholar

If we take out two runs at Glorious Goodwood where he was clearly out of his depth, 2026 has been a fine year for Parisian Scholar with form of 11223 going back to July. Those two wins were both over 1m4f, as were both seconds, and the return to the trip here should suit. His mark of 80 remains unchanged for the sixth race in a row and he looks perfectly handicapped.

Tip 3 - 3:20 Ascot - Talk Of New York

It’s been a bit of an up-and-down year for Talk Of New York in Class 1s. After kicking off with an impressive win at Sandown, he could only manage third in the St James's Palace Stakes at Royal Ascot and second when 2/5 favourite at Glorious Goodwood. Nevertheless, he got back on track at Newmarket last month with a comfortable win and looks the pick over fellow joint-favourite Gstaad, who has been equally as inconsistent.

Tip 4 - 4:35 Ascot - Gavriel

There could be plenty more to come from Gavriel off a mark of 101. The Gosdens’ colt was sent off favourite for the Cambridgeshire on just his fifth career start. He came mightily close to landing the race, having finished first on his side of the track, but fourth overall. He has a win at Ascot to his name and travels sweetly enough to suggest that the slight drop in trip should hold no fears. He looks like the proverbial group horse in a handicap that you need for a race like this.

What is the Staking Plan and How Does a 1pt Win System Work?

We advise each bet as a win single or sometimes as an each way single. You can of course choose to combine the selections in a multiple bet, a Lucky 15 or a Yankee etc and that is a very popular way to follow the horses selected in this column daily.

A 1pt win per horse is advised in general and that means whatever your normal stake is for a bet is used as a point. For many this is £1 and for some this is £10 or more but it is totally relative to the individual and shouldn’t be more than you can afford to lose at any time.

For each way selections we advise a 0.5pt each way stake. So as with the win selections this would be a £1 total bet (50 pence each way) or a £10 total bet (£5 each way).

Where Can I Watch the Daily Horse Racing Selections Run?

The best place is always on the racecourse but that’s not very practical so when it’s not on terrestrial TV with the likes of Sky Sports Racing and ITV (or ITV 4) then the best way to get instant access to live pictures is with a live streaming bookmaker – try these three below for the best of the bunch. We've also got a page specifically dedicated to Cheltenham Festival live streaming.
