Our Horse Racing Tips Staking Plan

Each selection we advised is a bet of £10 win single per horse. This is unless it is otherwise stated that is should be a £5 each way bet.

Do be aware that betting on horse racing is difficult to win consistently. Previous performance is no guarantee of future success, and you should only bet with what you can afford to lose.

Horse Racing Betting Tips

Tip 1 - 2:07 Navan - Lion Of Fortune

Despite ultimately being well-beaten on his two career starts, Lion Of Fortune has shown plenty of speed, suggesting there could well be races in him. These late-season maidens don’t often take a lot of winning, so any improvement could see him go close. Connections reach for a tongue tie to help him see his races out better. He may well be one for handicaps down the line, but at the prices, he’s worth a second look.

Tip 2 - 2:15 Worcester - Ballydine Boy

Ballydine Boy sets the standard here out of the ones who have seen a racecourse. The form of his debut run under rules might have some substance to it as the horse who finished third that day has subsequently won a race. There must have been a suspicion of that at the time, as he was snapped up and sent to Olly Murphy after the run. A big step forward today would be no surprise.

Tip 3 - 3:07 Fontwell - Inion Tiogair

Up for a hat-trick after a pair of wins at Chepstow back in spring, Inion Tiogair makes her first appearance in almost six months and will take some stopping if she continues in the same vein. The nine-year-old has won three of her last four, all of which came over today’s distance, with one by 11 lengths and the other by over nine. She’s up 10lbs for this one, but that may not yet be her limit.

Tip 4 - 3:42 Fontwell - Just A Glance

Ran with plenty of promise earlier in the year and could progress from that further on first race since April. Won first two hurdles before a promising third in a Listed race at Haydock, just two lengths behind the Mares’ Novices’ Hurdle winner from the Cheltenham Festival. Has a good record when going fresh, so that should hold no concerns. Upped four pounds for that third, but a mark of 120 on handicap debut seems more than fair.

What is the Staking Plan and How Does a 1pt Win System Work?

We advise each bet as a win single or sometimes as an each way single. You can of course choose to combine the selections in a multiple bet, a Lucky 15 or a Yankee etc and that is a very popular way to follow the horses selected in this column daily.

A 1pt win per horse is advised in general and that means whatever your normal stake is for a bet is used as a point. For many this is £1 and for some this is £10 or more but it is totally relative to the individual and shouldn’t be more than you can afford to lose at any time.

For each way selections we advise a 0.5pt each way stake. So as with the win selections this would be a £1 total bet (50 pence each way) or a £10 total bet (£5 each way).

Where Can I Watch the Daily Horse Racing Selections Run?

The best place is always on the racecourse but that’s not very practical so when it’s not on terrestrial TV with the likes of Sky Sports Racing and ITV (or ITV 4) then the best way to get instant access to live pictures is with a live streaming bookmaker – try these three below for the best of the bunch. We've also got a page specifically dedicated to Cheltenham Festival live streaming.
