Our Horse Racing Tips Staking Plan

Each selection we advised is a bet of £10 win single per horse. This is unless it is otherwise stated that is should be a £5 each way bet.

Do be aware that betting on horse racing is difficult to win consistently, that’s why we only use the best analysts and tipsters in the UK and Ireland to give their advice on this page. Previous performance is no guarantee of future success, and you should only bet with what you can afford to lose.

Horse Racing Betting Tips

Tip 1 - 2:10 Newmarket - Sportingsilvermine

A couple of below par efforts of late have resulted in Sportingsilvermine’s mark slipping back to what it was when he was second at the Shergar Cup. He’s been better than ever this year, reaching a career-high mark after winning the Old Newton handicap over this trip on the July course. The return to today’s quicker surface should help him rediscover his form, and he’s been given a chance by the handicapper.

Tip 2 - 2:25 Ascot - By The Book

Charlie Appleby looks to have a huge chance of scooping the winner’s prize, with two real chances. The more interesting of his pair is By The Book. He was beaten just over a length by the opposing Al Aasy at Beverley in July, but that was his first run following a stint in Dubai. Now fully fit and with conditions in his favour, he could make amends for his narrow defeat in the Chester Stakes in August, where he was chinned late over a quarter of a mile further than he’ll be going here.

Tip 3 - 4:25 Fontwell - Crown Of India

Things seemed to be finally coming together for Crown Of India after an impressive Class 4 victory in May was followed up by two seconds. He stays down a grade after a fairly disastrous effort at Worcester in August, but he’s already shown what he can do over hurdles and a bounce back is expected here. He’s won at a mark of 97 before so 2lbs less than that here shouldn’t be an issue.

What is the Staking Plan and How Does a 1pt Win System Work?

We advise each bet as a win single or sometimes as an each way single. You can of course choose to combine the selections in a multiple bet, a Lucky 15 or a Yankee etc and that is a very popular way to follow the horses selected in this column daily.

A 1pt win per horse is advised in general and that means whatever your normal stake is for a bet is used as a point. For many this is £1 and for some this is £10 or more but it is totally relative to the individual and shouldn’t be more than you can afford to lose at any time.

For each way selections we advise a 0.5pt each way stake. So as with the win selections this would be a £1 total bet (50 pence each way) or a £10 total bet (£5 each way).

Where Can I Watch the Daily Horse Racing Selections Run?

The best place is always on the racecourse but that’s not very practical so when it’s not on terrestrial TV with the likes of Sky Sports Racing and ITV (or ITV 4) then the best way to get instant access to live pictures is with a live streaming bookmaker – try these three below for the best of the bunch. We've also got a page specifically dedicated to Cheltenham Festival live streaming.
