Our Horse Racing Tips Staking Plan

Each selection we advised is a bet of £10 win single per horse. This is unless it is otherwise stated that is should be a £5 each way bet.

Do be aware that betting on horse racing is difficult to win consistently. Previous performance is no guarantee of future success, and you should only bet with what you can afford to lose.

Horse Racing Betting Tips

Tip 1 - 1:35 Worcester - Draco Malfoy

There look a couple of promising horses in this, with the test of fences coming for the first time today, including our pick, Draco Malfoy. Dual winner over hurdles and deemed good enough for a Grade 3 in March. Has previous winning point-to-point form so should take to fences well and the break since April is looked at a positive having won when fresh before. Will have to defy top weight, but back down in trip and down two pounds from last time out, he should go close.

Tip 2 - 1:50 Sedgefield - Arms Park

After winning a bumper in fine style going from the front and seeing off late challengers, there is a suspicion that Arms Park could be a decent horse. Out of Walk In The Park and closely related to a few who did well over jumps, he could have a level in him none of the others in the field will be able to get close to first time up over hurdles.

Tip 3 - 2:50 Sedgefield - Neigh Botha

A back-to-back winner this time last year, Neigh Botha comes into this one off the back of pulling up at Worcester in July, but 40% of the field didn’t finish that day, so it’s not a massive red flag on the nine-year-old. He won at Warwick over this distance in May to make it four chase victories, and whilst his mark of 109 is potentially concerning, it’s only 4lbs up from that win a few months ago so is very manageable.

Tip 4 - 3:15 Navan - Rosato

Rosato doesn’t have the greatest of strike rates, with just three wins from 28 runs, but there’s plenty in her favour today. Two of those three wins came over this course and distance, and three recent below par runs have left her rated four pounds lower than her last winning mark. She’s continued to be popular in the betting of late, suggesting connections believe she’s close to another win. Today may be the day.

What is the Staking Plan and How Does a 1pt Win System Work?

We advise each bet as a win single or sometimes as an each way single. You can of course choose to combine the selections in a multiple bet, a Lucky 15 or a Yankee etc and that is a very popular way to follow the horses selected in this column daily.

A 1pt win per horse is advised in general and that means whatever your normal stake is for a bet is used as a point. For many this is £1 and for some this is £10 or more but it is totally relative to the individual and shouldn’t be more than you can afford to lose at any time.

For each way selections we advise a 0.5pt each way stake. So as with the win selections this would be a £1 total bet (50 pence each way) or a £10 total bet (£5 each way).

Where Can I Watch the Daily Horse Racing Selections Run?

The best place is always on the racecourse but that’s not very practical so when it’s not on terrestrial TV with the likes of Sky Sports Racing and ITV (or ITV 4) then the best way to get instant access to live pictures is with a live streaming bookmaker – try these three below for the best of the bunch. We've also got a page specifically dedicated to Cheltenham Festival live streaming.
