Preference is for Ralph Beckett’s Spirit Tango. She was an impressive winner at Kempton in July despite hanging late on. That in itself was a big performance, with potentially more to come if she’s a little more professional today.

Tip 3 - 3:15 Goodwood - U S S Charleston

Disappointed from a plumb draw at Chester last time out when going off at 2/1, but the suspicion is that this mark of 77 is there for the taking. Ran an excellent race to finish second of 18 here at Glorious Goodwood from this very mark and only career win on turf came at Yarmouth on soft ground in May. The forecast wet weather all morning could be great news for U S S Charleston backers.

Tip 4 - 4:11 Catterick - Lanarra

Lanarra has enjoyed both her visits to Cattrick so far, never finishing out of the top two at the track. Her win last time out was over course and distance as well, picking up the leader late to grab the spoils. That win was in a classified contest, but the handicapper only gave her 3lb for the success, so back in big field handicap she can again employ her finishing kick with what should be a decent pace to aim at.

What is the Staking Plan and How Does a 1pt Win System Work?

We advise each bet as a win single or sometimes as an each way single. You can of course choose to combine the selections in a multiple bet, a Lucky 15 or a Yankee etc and that is a very popular way to follow the horses selected in this column daily.

A 1pt win per horse is advised in general and that means whatever your normal stake is for a bet is used as a point. For many this is £1 and for some this is £10 or more but it is totally relative to the individual and shouldn’t be more than you can afford to lose at any time.

For each way selections we advise a 0.5pt each way stake. So as with the win selections this would be a £1 total bet (50 pence each way) or a £10 total bet (£5 each way).
