It’s time now for Arizona State and Colorado to embark on their conference schedules in the Pac-12, and this Saturday that means facing each other at Sun Devil Stadium at 7:30 p.m. local time (10:30 p.m. ET).

Current college football odds see the Sun Devils as double-digit favorites despite their loss last week, in which they were blanked in the fourth quarter against No. 15 BYU. The Buffaloes, meanwhile, were blanked all game against Minnesota, adding doubt about Colorado’s ability to score against Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) squads.

Mistakes made to this point in the season can be washed away, to some extent, now that the conference season has arrived. If heading to Colorado sports betting sites or elsewhere, check out our college football picks for this matchup in the article below.

Odds are current as of publication. Betting sites may indicate odds changes closer to kickoff.

5 Key Colorado vs Arizona State Stats

Points at a premium: Colorado is averaging 14 points per game, which ranks 126th out of 130 FBS schools. That sounds bad on its own, but wait - it gets worse. The Buffaloes scored 35 points against a Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) team, and then just seven total points against a pair of FBS schools. Last week, they had minus-19 rushing yards and 63 total yards.

Penalty problems: The most penalized team in college football is Arizona State, with 36 infractions. That’s an astounding rate of 12 per game! Colorado has taken 17 total penalties.

Waiting on Trayanum: Will Arizona State running back DeaMonte Trayanum return for this game? He was said to be available to face BYU last week, but he was held out on game day while wearing a boot on his right foot. Trayanum rushed for 52 yards and two touchdowns on six carries in week one.

Edwards winless vs. Colorado: Early returns suggest this is Herm Edwards’ best team since he took the head coaching job at Arizona State in 2018. One way to add to that theory is by beating Colorado, which Edwards and Co. have failed to do in two previous tries (2018, 2019). The Sun Devils lost both games by one score.

Running at will: Even without Trayanum, the Sun Devils have thrived on pounding the rock. They’re averaging 5.6 yards per carry, and they’ve scored 11 of 13 offensive touchdowns on the ground.

Colorado vs. Arizona State Weather Forecast

The heat of the day should be gone in Tempe, Arizona, prior to kickoff. Temperatures in the mid-to-low-80s are expected, with negligible wind and chance of precipitation.

Colorado vs Arizona State Moneyline

At -750 on the moneyline, we realize the college football betting value of Arizona State is quite low. But the reason betting apps have them as such a strong favorite is because of Colorado’s anemic offense.

You need to score to win. It’s simple. Arizona State has an established running game, and Colorado hasn’t established an ability to move the ball whatsoever. With sports betting in Arizona now live, it's definitely something to consider if planning a wager.

Colorado vs Arizona State Point Spread

Both of these teams are still seeking traction with sportsbooks this year, given that they’ve combined for one win against the spread in six tries. That ATS win belongs to Colorado, and it came two weeks ago in their surprise scare of No. 7 Texas A&M (a 10-7 road loss).

Arizona State is now favored for a fourth consecutive game, but they’ve yet to come within a touchdown of covering. Then again, Colorado lost 30-0 as 2.5-point favorites last week. We’ll roll with the Sun Devils, but neither side feels terribly enticing. You can get Arizona State -14 (-110) at BetMGM .

Colorado vs Arizona State Totals

This over/under (44.5 points) is tied for the lowest on Saturday’s college football slate. That’s the Colorado effect, folks. It’s also worth noting that neither team has seen the over hit yet this season (combined 0-6).

Arizona State has seen the under hit in its past four home games, and this Saturday should mark five in a row. You can get Under 44.5 points at -110 with DraftKings .
