The numbers for sports betting in Mississippi for the month of November are starting to leak out.

On twitter, Daniel Wallach indicated that the handle during November $44.5 million. The handle is up 33% from October’s handle of $33.3 million. Betting was reportedly very hard on Mississippi college teams and the New Orleans Saints.

Mississippi’s Early Success

The reported early success of gaming for the month of November continues the trend of increasing betting since the first bets were accepted on August 1st.

Starting at a write of $7.7 million in August, the state write jumped up to $31.8 million in September. October saw less growth, only growing a couple percent to $32.8 million. However, that’s still growth for Mississippi sports betting every month so far in its existence.

With the supposed November numbers, it appears that Mississippi is still on track to continue that trend. In three months, Mississippi has generated $7.3 million in taxable revenue. While that lags behind New Jersey, it’s still encouraging numbers for the budding industry. Should the supposed handle of $44.5 million be accurate, it’s likely that revenue will crack $10 million before December.

College football and New Orleans Saints betting has led the way in Mississippi.

Overall, sports betting caused an immediate jump in overall handle in Mississippi. In the first month, the total handle was $181 million in August, which was up 8% from the same month a year prior. As the rest of the country slowly moves toward legalization, Mississippi will enjoy the head start their early legalization will allow them.

August was an eventful month for Mississippi, as the state also legalized a statewide lottery. While numbers on the new lottery aren’t available, general support was in favor of the lottery before it was implemented and continues to be that way.

Sports Betting Continues to Grow Across the Nation

The same sentiment rings true for most states that have recently legalized sports betting. West Virginia, for example, saw the handle collected grew for 6 straight weeks after first launching in the state. However, West Virginia only puts out annual reports, so the final numbers won’t be available until the calendar turns over.

New Jersey also continues to grow, though with the biggest head start among states not named Nevada, it’s expected that they would have the highest numbers. And they absolute do, with $280 million in handle in October. The $280 million is up an astonishing 40% from September, which sat at $184 million.

The New Jersey numbers also indicate that states that have begun allowing mobile sports betting will benefit from it astonishingly fast. In the first month, FanDuel Sportsbook raked in $2.85 million. That number dipped slightly the next month in October, but was still hovering near $2.5 million.

The number that really stands out from the rest is the Resorts combination of DraftKings and BetStars. Between the two, Resorts saw a revenue of $5.09 million, more than doubling the next closest revenue (FanDuel). Contrastingly, the in-person revenue for Resorts was a mere $97,313. While one on-person retail stream did reach the one million mark, only one other stream was above half a million.
