When the Milwaukee Bucks fired head coach Mike Budenholzer, who led them to an NBA championship, and ultimately replaced him with Doc Rivers, it was the hope that the team could start a new era with Giannis and superstar guard Damian Lillard.

That hasn’t happened – at all. Rivers went 17-19 after taking over midseason for Adrian Griffin (who went 30-13). This season, the Bucks are even less competitive, losing eight of their first 10 games.

Now the whispers that Rivers may not be the coach to find the winning formulate have gotten louder.

Bookies.com veteran oddsmaker Adam Thompson has revealed his NBA odds for who is coaching the Bucks for next season.

Rivers inherited a team that was 30-13 from Griffin, who wasn’t meshing well on a personal level with star players or management. Rivers was brought on to take the team to the next level, but instead, the results went south and ended in a first-round flameout. The start of this season has been even worse, despite superstar production from both Giannis and Dame.

The absence of All-Star guard Khris Middleton due to yet another injury hasn’t helped, but the team has been fine in the past without him. Not this season.

Darvin Ham coached the Lakers for two seasons before being fired. He led the team to a winning record in both seasons but didn’t meet higher expectations. He’s currently an assistant coach for the Bucks, so the transition here would be smoother than most.

Miami’s Chris Quinn is considered one of the top assistants in the NBA. He’s young (41) and has yet to get his first head gig, though he was in the running for many of them last off-season.

Former Bucks player and current Celtics assistant Sam Cassell, Timberwolves assistant Micah Nori, and Kings assistant David Adelman are considered future NBA head coach prospects.

Frank Vogel has been a head coach in five locales, winning an NBA title with the Lakers in 2020. He was the scapegoat of a Suns playoff flameout and was fired from Phoenix after just one year. He’s a consultant for the Mavericks this season.

From the collegiate ranks, insiders believe Nate Oats of Alabama and Hubert Davis of North Carolina have the chops to succeed in the NBA if they get sick of the new NIL-fueled landscape at the NCAA level.
