The Cleveland Cavaliers announced Wednesday a new long-term partnership with Fubo Gaming, marking the first NBA betting sponsorship for the company with a league franchise.

The multi-year deal, starting with the upcoming 2021-22 regular season, is designed to increase brand awareness of Fubo Gaming and its forthcoming Fubo Sportsbook across Cavs marketing territory in Ohio, including in Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse and on the team’s digital platforms such as the Cavs' GameDay+ app. Ohio sports betting is not legal, but there has been movement in that direction.

Fubo Gaming, which is an Authorized Gaming Operator of the NBA, will also be the presenting partner of Cavs Pick ‘Em, the free-to-play live predictive gaming platform that debuted last season in GameDay+, a second screen platform inside the Cavs App.

“We couldn’t be more excited to align our Cavaliers brand with Fubo Gaming, a company that shares a mutual passion for innovation and as we like to say, who are ‘obsessed with finding a better way’ in such a new and rapidly-evolving sports gaming category,” Shelly Cayette, Cleveland Cavaliers senior vice president, global partnerships, said in a news release. “We are proud to team up with Fubo Gaming and help bolster their brand presence across the greater Cleveland region, all over Ohio, and with our fanbase for many years to come.”

Fubo Sportsbook is still on track to launch in Q4 2021, pending regulatory approvals.

“We’re thrilled to have our first NBA team partnership with the Cleveland Cavaliers, an innovative sports franchise known to have one of the most passionate fan bases in the league,” Fubo Gaming president Scott Butera said. “This partnership is a natural extension of our overall goal to deliver sports fans dynamic and engaging experiences with the teams and sports they love.”

Betway Partnership Announced In March

On March 20, the Cavs and United Kingdom-based Betway announced a new multi-year partnership.

That betting deal includes a marketing campaign to promote Betway Sportsbook through signs and commercials, as well as a presence on team digital and social channels and other marketing assets.

With sports betting not yet legal in Ohio, the partnership also had introduced introduces a free-to-play game called “Betway Big Pick,” where fans can compete each week during the season to win cash prizes.

Cleveland opened its preseason on Tuesday with a 131-95 road loss to the Chicago Bulls and visit the Atlanta Hawks tonight for a 7:30 p.m. ET tipoff. The Cavs open their regular season at the Memphis Grizzlies on Oct 20 (8 p.m. ET) and return home on Oct. 22 to host the Charlotte Hornets (7 p.m. ET). Top sportsbooks and betting apps list the Cavs at anywhere between +25000 and +100000 in NBA title odds to win the championship this season.
