As the Washington Commanders trudge through a 2025 campaign that has seen them go from the NFC Championship Game to 4-10 afterthoughts, it’s worth casting our collective gaze forward to see what the club will do next.

With that in mind, Bookies.com – your best bet for sportsbook promo codes – has compiled hypothetical Commanders NFL Draft odds on which college prospect Washington could target in April’s NFL Draft. Edge rushers dominate our list.

Who Could Washington Draft?

Washington is currently projected to land the No. 8 pick in April’s draft, per Tankathon.com, and it seems general manager Adam Peters is likely to target an edge rusher to bolster the defense.

The Commanders have allowed 382.6 total yards per game (246.3 ypg passing and 136.3 ypg rushing). Those figures all rank in the bottom five in the league; only the Cincinnati Bengals (403.8 ypg) have given up more ground on average.

Given how much Washington needs help in rushing the passer, it’s no surprise that our top picks to land in the nation’s capital in 2026 are EDGE standouts Keldric Faulk of Auburn and Texas A&M’s Cashius Howell, co-favorites with an 18.2% implied probability. That would translate to +450 odds if it were offered at top sports betting apps.

Three more pass rushers are up next on our board: Texas Tech’s David Bailey (+600 odds), Rueben Bain Jr. of Miami and Arvell Reese of Ohio State (+900 each). A couple of those players might be gone by the eighth pick, if Washington’s draft slot stays at that spot.

Of the five edge rushers listed above, Reese has the most combined tackles in 2025, with 62. His Buckeyes, the No. 2 seed in the College Football Playoff, are favorites with BetMGM Sportsbook at +225 odds to win the national championship.

Bailey, in his first season in Lubbock after transferring from Stanford, has racked up 17.5 tackles for loss and 13.5 sacks, leading both categories among pass rushers on our board.

Howell (29 tackles, 14.0 tackles for loss and 11.5 sacks) and Faulk (29 tackles, 5.0 TFL, 2.0 sacks) have been excellent this year for their respective teams. These choices give Peters lots of talent to sift through in the coming months, ahead of the draft.

Of our top five candidates, only Faulk will not be playing in the 12-team CFP as Auburn finished its season 5-7. Check out our college football betting guide for general tips.

Who Else Could Get Picked?

The five edge rushers above are our top picks for Washington in 2026, but the Commanders could go off-script and land a top-notch addition to the team’s woebegone secondary.

That’s why we’re giving the Commanders +1200 odds of drafting either Ohio State safety Caleb Downs or Tennessee cornerback Jermod McCoy, as both would be overnight improvements at either position next season.

McCoy has four interceptions for the Volunteers; Downs has two for the 12-1 Buckeyes along with 60 combined tackles (to McCoy’s 44).

Either way, Washington could bolster the secondary immediately by taking either veteran college prospect. Downs is No. 6 on the ESPN top 25 draft prospects list, while McCoy is No. 23.

At DraftKings Sportsbook, Bain is third on the board at +650 odds to be the No. 1 overall pick, followed by Reese at +1000. The defensive stars trail two quarterbacks, Indiana’s Fernando Mendoza and Oregon’s Dante Moore, on the operator’s board.
