It is not just players on the move this summer, there will be many managers moving around on the managerial merry-go-round and the latest odds suggest Frank Lampard could be in line for a sensational return to Chelsea to replace Maurizio Sarri.

Current Derby boss Lampard is now odds-on 4/5 (-125) favourite with Betway to replace Sarri in the Chelsea dugout for next season after a flood of bets on the Blues legend.

Lampard has impressed in his first managerial role at Derby this season leading them to the Championship Play-Off final against Aston Villa and even if he is successful in guiding the Rams to the Premier League the betting suggests he might not be at the club next season if, as rumoured, Chelsea are looking for a new manager.

Sarri's future at Chelsea has been the subject of intense speculation for most of this season and a decision is expected to be made on the Italian one way or another after next week's Europa League final against Arsenal.

Departing Juventus boss Max Allegri is joint second favourite for the Chelsea job at 5/1 (+500) with Sarri somewhat ironically tipped to succeed the Italian in Turin.

Current England assistant manager Steve Holland, who enjoyed six seasons as Chelsea's assistant manager under a number of different bosses, is also 5/1 (+500) for the top role at Stamford Bridge.

Atletico Madrid's astute coach Diego Simone is an 8/1 (+800) shot for the manager's job at Chelsea after being linked with the role in the past, but Atletico will be determined not to lose the Argentine this summer with a number of players already expected to leave the Spanish club.

Another Chelsea legend and current assistant manager, Gianfranco Zola, is a 14/1 (+1400) outsider to land the role, but bettors appear to be latching onto the other Blues legend – Lampard – to be named the club's next manager.

Betway’s Alan Alger said: “With Max Allegri’s departure from Juventus now confirmed, there have been strong rumours that Maurizio Sarri is wanted by the Italian champions.

“These rumours have seen Frank Lampard backed into the 4/5 favourite to replace Sarri should the Italian leave this summer and the former Chelsea midfielder is the only name on punter’s lips at the moment.”

“Allegri has spoken about the Premier League in glowing terms before and he’s 5/1 to move to Stamford Bridge, while Atletico Madrid’s enigmatic manager Diego Simeone is 8/1."
