Tom Brady and the undefeated New England Patriots face their toughest test of the season when they head to Baltimore to face Lamar Jackson and the Ravens on Sunday Night Football.
The Patriots are favored on the road, though the Ravens are 9-2 off the bye under Coach John Harbaugh. Let’s take a look at some of the best bets fans of NFL betting should consider:

PICK 1: Patriots -3
This is the toughest opponent to date for the defending Super Bowl champions, and Jackson poses unique issues for defenses. But New England’s defense is on pace to rank among the all-time best. Only one team has lost by less than two TDs vs. the Pats, and that was the Bills, a 16-10 decision at Buffalo in which Brady had one of the worst games of his career.

Bill Belichick is a ridiculous 21-0 against first- and second-year QBs. Baltimore’s defense has relied more on reputation than results, ranking 16th in points allowed and 25th against the pass. The Pats’ schedule has been scrutinized, but the Ravens are only 1-1 against playoff teams, falling to the Chiefs and beating the Seahawks thanks to two defensive TDs.
PICK 2: Under 45 Points

Only one Patriots game has hit 45 points. Five of the Ravens’ seven games have hit 45, and all have hit 40. So what wins out, the Patriots’ defense or the Ravens’ offense?
I’ll say Baltimore breaks out – to an extent. Jackson is going to get his rushing opportunities, and they have backs who can pound the ball. Baltimore leads the NFL in time of possession, so grinding it out is going to be part of the gameplan to keep Brady off the field. Brady is averaging just 7.3 yards per attempt, so the offense isn’t as explosive as it may appear.
PICK 3: Most Punts – New England
New England leads the NFL in in scoring and scoring defense, but it also punts the ball. A lot. The Patriots rank third with the most punts, averaging 5.4 per game.

Meanwhile, no team punts fewer times per game than Baltimore. Not only do the Ravens kick it away just 2.6 times per game, they also have more fourth-down attempts than any above-.500 team in the league. If it’s fourth-and-short from midfield, Harbaugh is more likely to put the ball in Jackson’s hands than he is Sam Koch’s.
PICK 4: First Quarter ML – Patriots
Through eight games, the Patriots have allowed one TD in the first quarter. That’s it. Oh, and they also average 10.9 ppg in the opening 15 minutes, the most in the league. The Ravens have been solid in the opening quarter as well, but not that solid.

PICK 5: Highest Scoring Half – First half
The Patriots and Ravens combine to average 34.5 ppg in the first half, and just 27 ppg in the second half. Their defenses are also far better in the second half – New England’s pass defense has a 44.7 QB rating allowed in the fourth quarter, the Ravens’ 67.7, the top two numbers in the NFL.
