The Denver Broncos on Monday announced a partnership agreement with FanDuel, becoming the first NFL team to reach a sports betting deal since the NFL allowed sportsbook sponsorships in May.

FanDuel will be the official sports betting and fantasy partner of the team.

"Colorado is home to a passionate sports fan base and independent spirit, and, together with the Broncos, we're going to take the fan experience in Colorado to the next level," FanDuel Group Chief Marketing Officer Mike Raffensperger said in a news release. "With the NFL season just around the corner, partnering with an innovative organization like the Denver Broncos allows us to offer engaging fan experiences both inside and outside the stadium and access to unique betting promotions and content."

Colorado launched its sports betting market on May 1 despite casinos and most sports being shut down. It started with four online sportsbooks, including FanDuel, but has doubled since.

The sportsbooks in Colorado now up and running are BetMGM, BetMonarch, BetRivers, DraftKings, FanDuel, FOX Bet and SBK. Sky Ute, the first Native American sportsbook, launched on June 10.

In its first month, Colorado sportsbooks saw bettors place $25.5 million in wagers, according to an email from the Colorado Limited Gaming Control Commission. NFL betting fans should help drive the numbers up when the season begins in the fall.

FanDuel Can Use Broncos Logos

The agreement allows FanDuel to use official Broncos logos across its sports betting and daily fantasy offerings in Colorado, according to the news release. It also gives FanDuel access to in-stadium signage and radio, television and digital advertising.

The NFL allowed such agreements in the spring and the new CBA reportedly allows for sportsbooks at stadiums with revenue generated being shared between the league and players.

Last week the NFL allowed coaches to work from team training facilities. The Broncos began letting team employees return to the facility the last week of May.

Colorado Sports Betting Market Emerging

In addition to the NFL’s Broncos, Colorado is home to the NBA’s Nuggets, NHL’s Avalanche, MLB’s Rockies and MLS's Rapids, giving Colorado sports bettors a lot of options. The state is seen as one of the top emerging sports betting markets in the country — it has a young, growing population with avid sports fans and a strong technological base.

"FanDuel has built a strong reputation as a premier gaming destination for sports fans," Denver Broncos Chief Commercial Officer Mac Freeman said in the news release. "The ways they smartly reach people through engaging and entertaining content is in line with the Broncos' innovative thinking when connecting with our fans."

FanDuel also has a partnership with Twin River Worldwide Holdings Golden Gates Casino Black Hawk in Colorado.

Casinos in Cripple Creek reopened Monday after receiving approval from Colorado health officials. Black Hawk and Central City casinos will begin reopening on Wednesday.
