Jack Kennedy was born on 22 April, 1999. Hailing from Dingle, County Kerry, he became the youngest jockey in National Hunt modern era to win the Cheltenham Gold Cup when he won the race in 2021. His first winner at the Cheltenham Festival came as a 17-year-old, having made his first racecourse appearance in May 2015. The first-ever victory came at Cork when riding home Funny How in a seven-furlong handicap.
Kennedy predominantly rides in Ireland, and the majority of his notable successes have come in this country. This includes wins in the Irish Gold Cup, Irish Champion Hurdle and Champion Chase. Kennedy also has four Christmas Hurdle successes to his name, guiding Apple’s Jade (twice), Irish Point and Teahupoo to victory.
