Time is running out for Aaron Ramsey to seal a return to the Premier League in January. The Welshman is keen to leave Juventus before Monday’s transfer deadline, and the best betting apps believe he has a number of possible destinations.

Juventus are willing to loan Ramsey out until the end of the campaign, when he will have just 12 months remaining on his deal in Turin. But despite plenty of speculation in recent weeks, the midfielder remains at the Allianz Stadium for now.

Will there be any movement in the next few days? Let’s take a look at some of Ramsey’s options.

Could Newcastle Flex Financial Muscles?

Newcastle’s chances of signing Ramsey before the market closes for business are rated at 5/2 by football betting sites. The Magpies are keen to bolster their squad for the relegation battle that lies ahead, and while Eddie Howe must be pleased to have completed deals for Kieran Trippier and Chris Wood, he no doubt realises that more business needs to be done.

Ramsey would be an exciting addition. He has Premier League experience and would not need any time to adapt to the demands of the competition. His lack of game time this season is a concern, but Newcastle would work hard to get him up to speed quickly.

The relegation fight could go down to the wire, and Ramsey is the type of player capable of producing something from nothing in the final third – an invaluable quality when you are scrapping for points at the bottom.

Newcastle are closing in on the signing of Bruno Guimaraes from Lyon. It is unclear whether that transfer would lead to them cooling their interest in Ramsey, but it is definitely something to be mindful of.

Aston Villa Might Add Ramsey To Their Big Name Signings

Aston Villa have been highly active in January already, bringing in Lucas Digne, Philippe Coutinho, Robin Olsen and Calum Chambers. They can be backed at 7/2 with Ladbrokes to win the race for Ramsey, a player they have been linked with for several weeks.

No one can question Villa’s ambition in the transfer market, and that sense of a club moving forward must be appealing to potential recruits like Ramsey. The presence in the dugout of Steven Gerrard is another asset.

Dean Smith did a fine job at Villa Park, but it is hard to see the likes of Coutinho agreeing to join the Villans if Gerrard was not at the helm.

But perhaps the emergence of another Ramsey lessens the need for reinforcements in the engine room. Jacob Ramsey has been excellent under Gerrard and looks set to be a regular starter for the rest of the season.

Villa will not want to disrupt their academy product’s development, although they might decide that Ramsey would only get better training and playing alongside his namesake.

Can Patrick Vieira Persuade Aaron Ramsey To Join Crystal Palace?

Patrick Vieira has done an excellent job since his appointment as Crystal Palace manager last summer.

There was significant player turnover at Selhurst Park before the start of the season, as the club sought to lower the average age of the squad. It was a risk to make so many changes at once, but Vieira has made it work.

The former Arsenal captain thinks Palace can still get better though, and he will hope for one or two additions before Monday’s deadline. Vieira is believed to be interested in a deal for Ramsey, although wages of £400,000 per week would be a major issue unless Juventus agreed to heavily subsidise them.

BetVictor offer odds of 6/1 on Ramsey joining Palace. That feels about right, and Vieira will know that his team are outsiders in this particular race.

Palace are also in talks with Manchester United over a deal for Donny van de Beek, which would seem to suggest they are not overly confident when it comes to Ramsey.

Return To Arsenal Looks Improbable

Jack Wilshere has been training with Arsenal in recent months, but Mikel Arteta has ruled out offering him a deal. Perhaps he would be more receptive to bringing Ramsey back to the Emirates Stadium.

The Wales international might be older than his former teammate, but there’s no doubt he’s still good enough to thrive in the Premier League. Yet while many Arsenal fans would love to see Ramsey back in the red and white, the club may decide that he represents the past rather than the future.

Ramsey would be competing for game time with Emile Smith Rowe and Martin Odegaard, two younger players who have impressed this term. Bringing Ramsey back could disrupt the development of the two attacking midfielders already on Arsenal’s books.

Arteta did say earlier this month that he wants to bring in a midfielder, but the Spaniard appeared to be looking for someone to fill one of the two deep-lying roles in his system.

Ramsey is not sufficiently disciplined to play in a midfield two, while the early return of Thomas Partey from the Africa Cup of Nations means Arsenal are no longer quite so light in that area.

A Few More Months At Juventus Look Likely

A report by Il Bianconeri earlier this week stated Juventus are willing to freeze Ramsey out if he does not move on this month. Yet the Welshman has already been sidelined this season, having played for just 97 minutes in Serie A.

The club’s threat therefore rings hollow, and odds of 2/5 with Unibet on Ramsey staying put suggest that Juventus are unlikely to get their way.

If the 2022 World Cup was being held in the summer, Ramsey might feel more compelled to move on in search of more regular minutes. But the midfielder may well reason that the summer is time enough to seal a switch, and he will expect more options to present themselves in the post-season market.

Indeed, if Ramsey was truly desperate to get out of Turin he would have done so already. Seeing out the season with Juventus looks like a distinct possibility.
