Crystal Palace set out for a new manager this summer after Oliver Glasner left at the end of contract. Things haven't necessarily gone to plan since Pierre Sage was appointed head coach. A squad exodus and higher expectations because of Glasner's run have made their two wins from the first seven league games underwhelming to most.

The sharks started circling after Palace went down 3-0 inside 10 minutes against rivals Brighton, and there are reports that Sage could only have a game or two to win back over the Eagles hierarchy. Betting sites have opened up a market who will replace the Frenchman, and there are some bigger names mixed in with other less-heralded ones.

Betting apps seem to think that former Brentford and Tottenham manager Thomas Frank is the early favourite for the role, with ex-Ipswich boss Kieran McKenna close behind. Other names on the market include Eddie Howe, Sean Dyche and Rob Edrwards.

Thomas Frank Ready for Return to Management?

Thomas Frank’s big move to Tottenham didn't pan out the way anyone associated with him or the club would have hoped. After establishing a strong reputation at Brentford, the Dane swapped west London for north London last season but struggled to adapt and was sent on his way in February.

Eddie Howe A Surprise Candidate

Eddie Howe has been linked with a number of jobs recently, having left Newcastle over the summer. The former Magpies boss would bring the kind of stability to Crystal Palace that fans will be looking for, having been in charge of Newcastle for five years, on the back of eight years with Bournemouth. 

Howe may be a bit long in the tooth to still be regarded as one of the best young managers in English football, but he’d bring plenty of gravitas to Selhurst Park. Palace are struggling to balance Premier League and European football so far this season. Considering Howe’s experience of doing this in the Champions League with Newcastle, it’s no wonder he’s a popular choice at new betting sites.

Sean Dyche An Interesting Candidate

Rob Edwards has been out of work since June when he was sacked by Wolves following their relegation to the Championship, in a move that surprised many considering he was only seven months into a three-year contract and hadn’t done too badly with limited resources.
