Alan Sheehan’s short tenure at Swansea City has come to an end. The former defender enjoyed a relatively successful stint as caretaker manager at the back end of last season following the departure of Luke Williams, but Sheehan was unable to replicate that form and leaves with the Swans sitting in 18th.
As such, football betting sites have already got their odds out for the next Swansea manager and there’s a few familiar names on the list. Although there’s no clear favourite yet, the likes of Michael Carrick, Brendan Rodgers and Steven Gerrard are all considered to be options by betting apps in the UK.
There’s no shortage of available managers with experience for the Swansea hierarchy to interview, with recently fired pair Will Still and Russell Martin also in the running at new betting sites. Hammarby manager, Kim Hellberg, has reportedly held talks with the Swansea hierarchy about the role.

Could Michael Carrick Return to Management?
After being let go by Middlesbrough at the end of last season following a disappointing 10th place finish in the Championship, Michael Carrick could have a route back into the league with Swansea.
The former midfielder played under Sir Alex Ferguson for seven years at Manchester United and the hope is that he picked up a thing or two that might make him a top manager. He’s right towards the top of the Swansea next manager odds list on betting apps and it would be no surprise to see him in their dugout.
Gary O'Neil On Swansea's Radar
You’ll be doing well to find a manager betting market without Gary O’Neil towards the top at the moment. O’Neil has been jobless since getting sacked by Wolves last December and appears to be waiting for the right opportunity to return to management.
Swansea may be keen to appoint a name with Premier League experience, since that will be their ultimate goal. For O’Neil, Swansea could appeal as a project, with the Welsh club looking to get back to the top tier for the first time since 2018.
Brendan Rodgers Set For Return To Wales?
Brendan Rodgers could be set for a shock return to the club where he made his name between 2010 and 2012. The Northern Irishman has since enjoyed mixed success at Liverpool, Leicester City and Celtic (twice), but is now a free agent following his recent resignation from the latter of those clubs.
It remains to be seen whether Rodgers would want to enter a Championship relegation battle over potentially waiting for a Premier League job to open up, but if he does then it would represent a significant coup for the struggling Swans.

Steven Gerrard Amongst Big Names Considered
After a highly successful start to life as a manager, Steven Gerrard’s stock has plummeted. He did lead Rangers to their first SPL title since their relegation in 2012, and in fine style with an undefeated league record, but things haven’t gone well since he left there to join Aston Villa.
After a poor spell as Villa manager, Gerrard joined Al-Ettifaq in Saudi Arabia in 2023 but has been at home on the couch since leaving there in January. This would be a great level to go back in at to try and resurrect his career, but considering he turned down Rangers last month he might be waiting for a Premier League team to come calling.
