Tip 1 - 2:57 Pontefract - Uppercase
A trappy-looking race here, with most of the field looking exposed and not particularly well-handicapped. The exception may be Uppercase. He’s clearly had his issues, having seen a racecourse just five times in his career. His standout effort came over course and distance last July, when he made most of the running and finished second. The first, third, fifth and sixth from that race all won subsequently. He has the form in the book and the scope for improvement to run a huge race if ready to go on return.

Tip 2 - 3:57 Pontefract - Vantheman
Not exactly a trustworthy sort with two wins from 18 attempts on turf but won seasonal reappearance on all-weather in January and has a course-and-distance win here from three pounds higher than today’s 85. No wins last season but a strong second at Hamilton from a mark of 87. If in similar form to January’s appearance at Newcastle, he should enter calculation off this mark.

Tip 3 - 4:10 Exeter - Land Girl’s Luck
Land Girl’s Luck has been a pretty consistent performer throughout her career with nine top threes, including three wins, in 16 hurdle outings and recently came back from a five-month absence showing no ill effects to finish second and then third. Today is arguably a bigger challenge with Freddie Mitchell only taking off 3lbs instead of the five he has been when riding this seven-year-old previously, but this has been a winning distance before and she looks bang in form.

Tip 4 - 4:55 Southwell - Galileo Charm
After repeated efforts in Maiden and Novice races Galileo Charm finally tried her hand at a handicap last time out, and scored nicely in the process. What is the Staking Plan and How Does a 1pt Win System Work?
We advise each bet as a win single or sometimes as an each way single. You can of course choose to combine the selections in a multiple bet, a Lucky 15 or a Yankee etc and that is a very popular way to follow the horses selected in this column daily.
A 1pt win per horse is advised in general and that means whatever your normal stake is for a bet is used as a point. For many this is £1 and for some this is £10 or more but it is totally relative to the individual and shouldn’t be more than you can afford to lose at any time.
For each way selections we advise a 0.5pt each way stake. So as with the win selections this would be a £1 total bet (50 pence each way) or a £10 total bet (£5 each way).
