Tip 1 - 3:00 Sandown - Jonbon

Willie Mullins continues his assault on the Trainers’ Championship by sending over a strong team of horses for this big Saturday fixture. He runs El Fabiolo here but, after his showing at Cheltenham it could well be worth taking the favourite on with Jonbon. With Edwardstone in the field again a quick jumping test is assured, and it was this that exposed El Fabiolo last time out. Sandown will present another tough examination, and the railway fences are going to test him to the full. Jonbon showed he has stamina as well as speed last time out, and will be able to pick this one up late as he did at Aintree.

Tip 2 - 3:35 Sandown - Minella Cocooner

Mincella Cocooner is taken to put an exclamation mark on Willie Mullins’ Trainers’ Championship challenge. He ran a cracking race to finish third in the Irish National at the start of the month, showing how well he can handle the hustle and bustle of a big-field handicap chase. Despite racing on soft or heavy ground all season to this point, his best efforts last season came on a better surface. Danny Mullins has been responsible for a lot of Willie Mullins’ big wins this season, and he could bag another here.

Tip 3 - 5:20 Sandown - Emailandy

With 18 runners set to go to post, this looks a pretty open race with another one of those Willie Mullins “could be anything” runners at the top of the market. Sa Majeste was a huge disappointment at Cheltenham, finishing 16th and has much to prove on good ground. A horse who seems to enjoy the quicker ground is Emailandy, who won last time out convincingly on good ground at Plumpton and also had a good third over course and distance in Graded company last month.

What is the Staking Plan and How Does a 1pt Win System Work?

We advise each bet as a win single or sometimes as an each way single. You can of course choose to combine the selections in a multiple bet, a Lucky 15 or a Yankee etc and that is a very popular way to follow the horses selected in this column daily.

A 1pt win per horse is advised in general and that means whatever your normal stake is for a bet is used as a point. For many this is £1 and for some this is £10 or more but it is totally relative to the individual and shouldn’t be more than you can afford to lose at any time. 

For each way selections we advise a 0.5pt each way stake. So as with the win selections this would be a £1 total bet (50 pence each way) or a £10 total bet (£5 each way).
