Tip 1 - 3:15 Yarmouth - Run Away

Not a great deal to be made from the previous form of many of these horses, as they have either never won having run or have never run. One that piques the interest is Run Away, bought for €2.6 million as a yearling and makes her debut here. Daughter of multiple graded winner, and sister to outstanding two-year-old Blackbeard, who won the Juddmonte Stakes in his only season two years ago. Booking of Oisin Murphy only strengthens feeling that she should go very well.

Tip 2 - 3:40 Punchestown - Firefox

A lot of the focus on this race will be on the rematch between Slade Steel and Mystical Power, and rightly so, since they were first and second in the Supreme at Cheltenham. Back in third that day was Firefox, who had no racing room turning for home and most of the way on the run to the last flight. When he eventually got into the clear, he ran on to finish an unlucky-looking third. He went down by half a length to Mystical Power at Aintree, when he was running on late on a track that didn’t suit. He looks overpriced and is worth a chance.

Tip 3 - 5:25 Punchestown - Banbridge

This is looking like a great chance for the ground-dependent Banbridge to finally pick up a Grade 1 chase. Having taken his chance on ground much too soft for his liking in the Ryanair, he returns to what should be a much more suitable faster surface today. The drop in trip shouldn’t be a concern as he turned in top performances over 2 miles as a novice, and if first-time cheekpieces bring out any improvement, he will be tough to beat in a race full of horses who probably aren’t true Grade 1 class.

What is the Staking Plan and How Does a 1pt Win System Work?

We advise each bet as a win single or sometimes as an each way single. You can of course choose to combine the selections in a multiple bet, a Lucky 15 or a Yankee etc and that is a very popular way to follow the horses selected in this column daily.

A 1pt win per horse is advised in general and that means whatever your normal stake is for a bet is used as a point. For many this is £1 and for some this is £10 or more but it is totally relative to the individual and shouldn’t be more than you can afford to lose at any time. 

For each way selections we advise a 0.5pt each way stake. So as with the win selections this would be a £1 total bet (50 pence each way) or a £10 total bet (£5 each way).
