If you like your college football betting with plenty of parity and midseason uncertainty, we’ve got the conference for you.

It’s Week 7 and almost nothing has been established in the MAC. This conference is already known for balance, but the 2021 season is making the point like we’ve never seen.

Every MAC team has at least one win and at least two losses. In the West Division, Northern Illinois is 2-0 in conference play and the other five teams are 1-1. At least six teams in the MAC look very capable of winning a conference title, perhaps eight. And the betting odds back it up.

Toledo is still the favorite despite last week’s home loss to Northern Illinois, with +350 odds . There’s little separation with Kent State (+330), Western Michigan (+350), Ball State (+500) and Miami Ohio (+1000) right behind them on the board at DraftKings.

Northern Illinois – 4-2 overall and one of two MAC teams with a 2-0 conference record – is sixth at +1400, which shows just how nuts it’s been entering the midway point of the season.

We’ll see a little bit of movement this week with Western Michigan taking on Kent State in the marquee matchup at 3:30 p.m. Saturday. The Golden Flashes are looking to stay on top in the East Division, while the Broncos can reestablish themselves as the team to beat in the West despite last week’s blowout loss to Ball State.

Overall, every team in conference still has legit title hopes. It’s been a slow start with evenly-matched squads feeling each other out. But it’s gonna be a wild race to the finish in a conference that’s still 100% up for grabs.

Week 7 MAC Best Bets

Western Michigan -6.5 over Kent State

The Broncos’ 45-20 loss to Ball State last week was surprising and ugly, but Western Michigan should bounce back strong against the Golden Flashes. It was a weird game with the Broncos dominating time of possession and out-gaining the Cardinals by one yard. The difference was four Western Michigan turnovers that all led to Ball State touchdowns, including a scoop-and-score in the 4th quarter. One of those ‘burn the tape and move on’ games.

Western Michigan still has the best defense in conference and Kent State will struggle to run the ball. Kent State has the worst defense in conference and we expect a big bounce-back game for the Broncos.

Looking at the college football odds, this seems like a good line for the home team. We’re on Western Michigan -6.5 at BetMGM.

Bowling Green +9 over Northern Illinois

Just like the Broncos, Bowling Green played way better than the final score suggests in a 35-20 loss to Akron. They took a 13-0 lead and were later undone by five turnovers in a sloppy performance. The Falcons have the best secondary in the MAC and should shut down the Huskies’ passing game.

Northern Illinois will have success on the ground, but we expect the Falcons to hit on a few big plays through the air behind quarterback Matt Macdonald.

Bowling Green is 5-0 against the spread as an underdog this season on betting apps, and they’re a two-score dog this week at Caesars Sportsbook. We’re on Bowling Green +9.

Central Michigan +4.5 over Toledo

This line has held steady at sportsbooks and betting sites throughout the week. We don’t expect significant movement before kickoff.

The public loves Toledo, but the Rockets are on pace for their worst offensive season in more than a decade. Central Michigan has the second-best offense in the MAC and should have another great day with the passing attack behind freshman quarterback Daniel Richardson.

The Chippewas have home-field advantage and smoked Toledo 49-7 when they last played in Mt. Pleasant. And they have way more offensive firepower for this one. Central Michigan +4.5 at FanDuel is the play.
