Leg 1: The Mariners’ offense has been struggling of late, that might change with Eugenio Suarez back in town starting (presumably) this weekend. That should change even sooner here vs. Kumar Rocker, who has a 9.91 ERA in seven road starts. Seattle’s scored seven runs off him in 9.1 IP this season. Mariners starter George Kirby has given up 10 runs over his last 17 innings, and Texas has an .811 road OPS the last two weeks. The last six Rangers games have all totaled 9-13 runs.
Leg 2: George Kirby has six-plus strikeouts in three of his four July starts for the Mariners. Prior to that, however, he’d struck out over five just once in eight starts. Texas is simply average when it comes to K’s, and slightly below the norm on the road.
Leg 3: Kumar Rocker has been solid on the home field, but dreadful away from it. In seven road starts, he’s registered over 15 outs just two times, and in both those instances, he got 16 before being pulled. Suarez won’t be in the lineup for Seattle, but the move should energize those who are playing Thursday night.
