Kyle Kuzma, Over 9.5 Points
NBA Odds: -142 at BetMGM
We’ll be nice and say the Kyle Kuzma-in-Milwaukee experiment is still ongoing. Regardless of how many shots it takes, Kuzma is going to score points. He averages 14.5 ppg for the Bucks, but was in the 20s the prior two years in Washington. He faces his former team. There is no clear No. 2 option for the Bucks, so Kuzma has two reasons to come out hot.

Joel Embiid, Under 25.5 Points
NBA Odds: -105 at BetMGM
Embiid averaged 23.8 ppg last season, down roughly 10 points from the two years prior. He can do more here, but it’s Game 1 of a long season, and Embiid is one of the least-durable stars in NBA history. The last two years, he’s faced the Celtics four times, and been limited to 20 or less in two of them, and just barely hit over this number the others (27 twice). He played just 19 minutes of preseason action.
Jalen Brunson, Under 37.5 Points/Rebounds/Assists
NBA Odds: -106 at DraftKings
Brunson is back as the leader of the Knicks in a season full of expectations. Last year, he averaged 34.2 PRA, so oddsmakers believe he has a big opening night. But it’s against the defense-first Cavaliers. In three matchups vs. Cleveland last season, Brunson’s PRA totals were 30, 34, and 31.
