Just one day after launching in Tennessee, FanDuel on Monday announced a sports betting and daily fantasy sports multiyear partnership with the NBA’s Memphis Grizzlies, one of the state’s professional sports teams.

It’s the first sports betting partnership for the Grizzlies and the first NBA team to partner with FanDuel, according to a news release.

“As we expand our market-leading sportsbook into Tennessee, partnering with the Grizzlies was a no-brainer given the team’s popularity and long-standing success, as well as their shared mindset of being absurdly fan-focused,” Mike Raffenspberger, chief marketing officer for FanDuel, said in the news release. “We are incredibly excited to collaborate with the Grizzlies as we bring unique promotions, product innovation, and engaging online experiences to Grizzlies fans and Tennessee sports fans alike.”

On Oct. 15, Turner Sports designated FanDuel as the exclusive sportsbook partner for NBA programming on Turner Sports properties. On Oct. 27, FanDuel announced another first — a sports betting deal with an MLS team, D.C. United.

FanDuel was one of four approved sports betting platforms to go live Sunday, along with BetMGM, DraftKings, and in-state operator Action 247, 16 months after Tennessee’s online-only sports betting market was legalized

About the FanDuel-Grizzlies Deal

FanDuel will have access to official Grizzlies marks and logos to use across FanDuel’s online NBA sports betting offering and daily fantasy sports product, as well as marketing opportunities from in-arena signage at the Grizzlies’ home arena — FedExForum — to radio, television and digital advertising, the news release said.

In addition, FanDuel will also have multiple integrations within the team’s home and away television broadcasts and offer other opportunities to its customers.

On FanDuel, the Grizzlies are +10000 in NBA futures odds to win the 2021 NBA title. Top sportsbooks like the Lakers to repeat as champions, though it’s unclear when the 2021 season will begin.

Promotions for Tennessee Residents

Grizzlies promotions on FanDuel will include: Tennessee residents who enter code “GRIZZLIES” and sign up for a FanDuel account will receive a $20 free bet with no deposit required, the release said.

Also, Tennessee residents who sign up for a new account in the next 24 hours and also enter “GRIZZLIES” will be entered to win an autographed Grizzlies jersey (winner is randomly selected). In addition, the FanDuel Sportsbook app features a special risk-free first bet up to $1,000 for Tennessee customers, which means any customer that doesn’t win their first bet is automatically refunded their wager, up to $1,000 in site credit.

“We are thrilled to have FanDuel as our first sports betting marketing partner and as our exclusive daily fantasy partner,” Jason Wexler, president of the Grizzlies, said in the news release. “Grizzlies fans are among the most passionate in the NBA, and we are looking forward to helping them find new ways to access their sports fandom.”
