Karl-Anthony Towns is one of the top 10 players in the NBA, but there’s not much else to get excited about on the Minnesota Timberwolves roster. The T’Wolves are stuck in basketball purgatory: Too much money tied up to enter a true rebuild, but not enough talent to truly contend. A healthy Robert Covington will make a difference, but not enough to significantly move the needle.

Here’s the key odds available and how you should bet them:

Timberwolves Win-Total Betting

The Line: 35.5 with SugarHouse

The Timberwolves won 36 games last season, including a 38-win pace (32-37) after they traded Jimmy Butler. Towns is in for a monster year, while Covington is still one of the best defenders in the league.

The Bet: Back the over. If they get enough from their backcourt and a few key role players step up, they should sneak past that win total.

Timberwolves Northwest Division Odds

The Line: +10000 with DraftKings

The playoffs aren’t out of the question, but it’s a three-team race in the Northwest between the Nuggets, Jazz and Blazers. The Timberwolves have never won a division title – or even finished second – and it won’t happen this season.

The Bet: Avoid these longshot odds.

Timberwolves Western Conference Odds

The Line: +12000 with FanDuel

Even if Towns puts together a monster year and the role players hit on all cylinders, the Timberwolves are two classes below the best of the best in the Western Conference. It would take a miraculous effort to get to the postseason, and then they’d need to upset three teams in the postseason.

The Bet: Avoid these odds.

Timberwolves NBA Title Odds

The Line: +15000 with 888sport

The hope is that Andrew Wiggins improves, rookie Jarrett Culver makes an immediate impact, and the backcourt provides some stability. But Towns can’t do it himself. It’ll be a while before the Timberwolves join the contender talk.

The Bet: These odds aren’t worth considering.

Best Timberwolves Player Prop Bets

The Line: Karl-Anthony Towns leading scorer +2500 with PointsBet

No center has won the NBA’s scoring title since Shaquille O’Neal in 2000, but Towns is as gifted a scoring big as there is in basketball. He averaged 25.3 points after the T’Wolves traded Butler, and he had a six-week stretch in February to mid-March in which he averaged 31.8 points on 61% shooting.

The Bet: The Timberwolves will need him to be around 30 points each night to have a chance, making him solid value at those odds.
