Leg 1: The Thunder have looked the part as the defending NBA champions. That said, only one of their victories was by more than six points, two of them were double-overtime thrillers. The Mavericks, despite a 1-2 record, have improved in each game. This one should be closer than the oddsmakers think.

Leg 2: Mavericks rookie Cooper Flagg has gotten progressive better in each of his three games, and with it, Dallas has played better overall. The No. 1 overall pick had 22 in his last game, and OKC injuries should offer Flagg a favorable matchup here.

Leg 3: Thunder big man Isaiah Hartenstein had 10 rebounds in OKC’s only non-2OT game. His 10.7 average is identical to his rebounding average of last season. He had 13 boards in his lone matchup with the Mavs last year. With Jalen Williams out and Chet Holmgren potentially less than 100%, battling in the paint is Hartenstein’s role here.
