Bank of America Roval 400 Odds & Picks for NASCAR at Charlotte

Bank of America Roval 400 Odds & Picks for NASCAR at Charlotte

One wild-card race down, one to go. The tumult of Talladega is behind us, so now the drivers competing for the NASCAR Cup Series championship take on one more treacherous track before returning to more conventional layouts for the stretch run.

Sunday’s race on the “Roval” at Charlotte Motor Speedway incorporates parts of both the infield road course and high-banked oval. Cup Series drivers have raced on it just twice previously. To heighten the tension, this event also serves as the cutoff before the championship field is reduced to eight drivers.

Kevin Harvick remains the NASCAR odds favorite to win the Cup title at +150; he can advance with a finish of 29th or better. So grab a NoDa Oktoberfest and some vinegar-pepper barbecue as we delve into your best bets for the Roval.

Alex Bowman to Win

The Roval isn’t a true road course — its turns are broad and sweeping, and like the Daytona road course it incorporates all four corners of the speedway. Some drivers not viewed as road experts flourish here — like Bowman, who has run fourth and second in the layout’s first two races, for a series-best average finish of third. He has a knack for the place and it shows in performance, plus he comes with excellent NASCAR betting value. Get great odds on Bowman at William Hill.

Ryan Blaney Top 3

Ryan Blaney is another driver better known for his prowess on big, fast tracks who has taken to the Roval like a natural. Blaney won the inaugural Roval race in 2018 after leaders Martin Truex Jr. and Jimmie Johnson wrecked coming to the finish, but credit Blaney for being in the right place at the right time. Blaney was eighth at this race last year and, though he has faded down the stretch this season, his previous results here are difficult to ignore. Grab top odds on Blaney at Resorts.

Clint Bowyer Top 3

Chase Elliott, the defending race champion and odds favorite to win at +300, simply doesn’t present much value; even for a top-three finish, bettors are only getting -125. Pursue a little more potential profit with Bowyer, who hasn’t been great this season, but can excel in spots. He has finished third and fourth in the first two Roval events, and wackier things have happened on road courses — even this one. Ride with Bowyer at FanDuel.

Kyle Busch Top Toyota

There’s no question that Truex is the road course hotshot in the Joe Gibbs Racing stable and he should probably have at least one Roval win. But as the driver sitting directly on the cutoff spot — the eighth position in points — Kyle Busch will be driving with desperation. The reigning Cup series champion’s aggressive style fits a course with a lot of opportunities to pass. Plus, Busch is an excellent road racer too. Bet on Kyle Busch at DraftKings.

Hendrick Motorsports to Win

Not long ago, this would have been a great bet to make every week. Now, not so much. But a Hendrick wager here allows bettors to hedge a bit, because it includes the odds favorite Elliott in addition to Roval ace Bowman. Heck, even William Byron finished sixth on the layout last year. And who knows when Johnson might catch lightning one more time before he retires. Wager on Hendrick Motorsports with Unibet.

Alex Bowman Top Chevrolet

Another hedging opportunity given the value, allowing bettors a different avenue on Bowman to guard against someone else winning the race. Elliott is the Chevy favorite, but he’s giving a negative number (-150), so it could pay to look elsewhere. Bowman is No. 2 odds choice in the Chevy stable, but presents far more favorable odds compared to Elliott, who simply doesn’t offer as much upside to the bettor. Put another bet on Bowman at SugarHouse.

Michael McDowell Top 10

This bet seems like a flyer, for certain, given that McDowell drives for the smaller Front Row Motorsports outfit and has just four top-10 finishes this season. One of those, though, was on the Daytona road course. The former sports-car driver is as close as it gets to a road course expert in NASCAR these days, with four top-five finishes on road courses in the Xfinity Series, including a victory at Road America. Take a flyer on McDowell at Unibet.
