Hollywood Casino 400 Odds & Picks for NASCAR at Kansas

The road courses are in the rearview mirror. The superspeedways are behind the drivers. For the eight remaining contestants in NASCAR’s championship chase, the road to a title goes through four familiar, traditional tracks.

That’s good news for Kevin Harvick, the NASCAR betting Cup Series championship odds favorite at +165. At Talladega and the Charlotte Roval, Harvick suffered back-to-back finishes outside the top 10 for the first time since June. No. 2 NASCAR Odds choice Denny Hamlin has crawled to within +225 — and has won the past two races at the track the series visits on Sunday.

That’s Kansas Speedway, a 1.5-mile tri-oval where Hamlin and Harvick are the top two favorites. So grab a Boulevard Wheat and a plate of burnt ends to delve into your seven best bets for the the Hollywood Casino 400 in the Sunflower State.

Kevin Harvick to Win

Hamlin is the two-time defending track champion, but Harvick is tied with Hamlin and Jimmie Johnson with three wins at Kansas, the most among active drivers. Over the past six races, nobody has earned more points there than Harvick. If you toss out the Las Vegas race, where he was shuffled back by a caution on pit road, Harvick has finished fourth, fifth and fourth in his past three starts on intermediate ovals. Plus, he hasn’t gone four races without winning since July. Get the best odds on Harvick to win at FanDuel.

Denny Hamlin Top 3

Remember the prospect of that one-on-one championship showdown? It seems to be coming closer to reality, given a recent surge by Hamlin that has coincided with Harvick’s relative struggles. Hamlin’s last two starts on 1.5-milers have included a third at Vegas and a victory at Kansas. In 2019 he led 144 of the final 152 laps at Kansas. The speed is there, the results are coming and the faceoff over the final four weeks looms. Ride with Hamlin at Resorts.

Martin Truex Jr. Top 3

Martin Truex Jr. has been inconsistent over the past six weeks, but his record at Kansas is solid — he has two victories, is tied with Harvick and Johnson for most top-fives among active drivers (nine) and he has finished sixth or better in six of his past seven starts. Much like Harvick and Hamlin, Truex has been great this year on 1.5-mile tri-ovals, placing fourth or better in three of his last four starts. In a season with no practice, that performance doesn’t hurt. Wager on Truex at FanDuel.

Ford Winning Manufacturer

The blue oval’s current three-race skid matches its longest of the season and even that deserves something of an asterisk given the wacky tracks we’ve seen the past two weeks. Ford has won just one of the past four at Kansas, but manufacturer staples Harvick, Brad Keselowski and Joey Logano have all won there. Also, Ford drivers have prevailed four previous times this season on similar 1.5-mile tri-ovals. Much like Harvick, Ford is simply overdue to win again. Bet on them at DraftKings.

Stewart-Haas Racing to Win

While SHR doesn’t boast the depth of Gibbs or Penske, all of its cars are fast. A wager here not only lets bettors double down on Harvick at pretty good value, but they also snag Cole Custer — who won this season at Kentucky, another 1.5-miler — and Kansas native Clint Bowyer, who announced this week that he’s retiring at the end of the season. Bowyer makes his final start on a home track where he has finished eighth or better in two of his past three races, but has never won. Back SHR at Unibet.

Erik Jones Top 10

Jones is nearing the end of his tenure with Joe Gibbs Racing, but he still has some tracks where he’s typically a threat. One of them is Kansas, where Jones has logged top-10 finishes in five consecutive starts. He seeks to secure a ride for 2021 and is in the midst of a solid run of four finishes of eighth or better. With all eyes on the title contenders, Jones makes for a nice under-the-radar option. If you agree, grab these odds with PointsBet.

William Byron Top 10

Chad Knaus, bound for the executive suite after this season, continues to work a little crew chief magic with Byron, who has finished fourth and sixth the past two weeks. And Kansas is a very good track for the Hendrick Motorsports youngster as Byron posted top-10s there in each of his past two starts and led 27 laps on the tri-oval in July. Bet on Byron at DraftKings.
