January 1, 2023 is the official launch date for Ohio sports betting. Tons of familiar names will be competing for attention in Ohio sports betting. Underdog Fantasy will eventually be part of the mix, but will not launch their sportsbook on January 1st like the rest of Ohio.  They have been gaining traction by the second in the DFS world and are now ready to enter the sports betting market with an Ohio launch sometime in early 2023.

The fastest-growing daily fantasy sports (DFS) and best ball site is expanding its reach to sports bettors by creating the first Underdog Sportsbook, and it will be launching in Ohio. It's exciting news, especially since Underdog's senior leadership has spoken about being a disruptor in the sports betting industry.

Underdog Sportsbook Ohio was conditionally approved to launch a sports betting app (it will not have a retail sportsbook) at the most recent meeting of the Ohio Casino Control Commission. We are here to tell you everything we know about Underdog Sportsbook Ohio ahead of its launch in Winter or Spring for Ohio sports bettors.

How Did Underdog Fantasy Start?

Underdog is the brainchild of Jeremy Levine, who previously created the StarStreet and DRAFT fantasy apps, which were purchased by DraftKings and Paddy Power Betfair, respectively.

Despite those transactions, Levine wasn’t done just yet with daily fantasy sports. In early 2020, he launched Underdog Fantasy. With its popular Best Ball daily fantasy game, Pickem contests, and Battle Royales, it’s no wonder Underdog Fantasy has taken off.

In the last two years, it’s become one of the top DFS sites out there. With the success of Underdog Fantasy, Levine has now set out to make Underdog the premier destination for online sports gaming with the addition of Underdog Sportsbook Ohio.

This summer, Underdog announced that it plans on opening up an online sportsbook in Ohio, in addition to Colorado. Underdog Sportsbook now is expected to go live in both states in 2023. There will also be an Underdog Ohio Sportsbook betting app.

The Underdog Ohio Sportsbook is an especially interesting launch for sports betting because there is no previous Underdog Sportsbook to compare it to from other states.

We do know that Underdog Fantasy does DFS very well, so if the Underdog Sportsbook in Ohio is anything like the fantasy product, Ohio betting users are in for a treat. Underdog Sportsbook Ohio could soon be one of the top Ohio sports betting apps available in the sports betting market.

We also want to mention that Underdog announced a Series B funding round this summer for $35 million, which valued the company at $485 million. The company features notable investors, including the likes of Mark Cuban, Kevin Durant, and Adam Schefter. These investment will help enhance the Underdog Sportsbook and other offerings.

With so much brain power and money behind the operation, there is no reason to think that Underdog Ohio can’t become one of the top sportsbooks in the Buckeye State along with Caesars Ohio, BetMGM, DraftKings Ohio, and others. It's already on the right path and the addition of Underdog Sportsbook could really help propel the company into the elite tier of gaming operators.

What Can We Expect From Underdog Sportsbook Ohio?

Levine has stated that Underdog’s goal as a company is that “we’re going to build a not-so-traditional sportsbook.” One of the ways he plans on doing that is with an improved live sports betting experience for Underdog Fantasy gambling.

Levine said that Underdog Sportsbook Ohio will deliver “a whole new live betting experience that doesn’t feel like the static sportsbook experience in the industry. Ours will look quite different. It will feel more like an immersive experience.”

This is all very exciting to hear for Ohio sports bettors, so the actual implementation of Levine’s ideas will be interesting. Another cool thing is that Underdog has already partnered with the Cincinnati Reds to run their online sportsbook for MLB betting in the state of Ohio.

The Reds are one of the most storied professional sports teams in the Buckeye State, so for Underdog to have a sportsbook partnership with the MLB legendary franchise is a huge positive. Other potential Ohio partnerships could also be in play, given the star power backing the Underdog company.

This will strictly be a mobile partnership, based on the type of sports betting license Underdog applied for (BetMGM Ohio will have a retail sportsbook at Great American Ballpark). You can also expect a Underdog Sportsbook app in Ohio.

Ohio betting kiosks are coming to restaurants, bars, grocery stores, and other locations in the state. While we do not know what operators will be issuing betting kiosks to these places, Underdog Ohio could be one of them.

Will There Be An Underdog Sportsbook Ohio Promo Code?

At this point in time, we do not know what the Underdog Ohio Sportsbook promo code will be for new users. Since Underdog Sportsbook hasn’t launched in any other states yet, we don’t know for sure what the promo code will be. However, we do have an idea of what it could potentially be based on what Underdog Fantasy offers its new customers.

Underdog Fantasy has a 100% first deposit match bonus for up to $100. It’s possible Underdog Ohio Sportsbook could offer a similar welcome promo code for users, but there is a chance the welcome offer for the sportsbook in the Buckeye State will be even better.

Either way, There's a good chance, based on its DFS offer, that Underdog Ohio will have one of the top Ohio sportsbook promo codes

Once we find out what the Underdog Ohio Sportsbook promo code is, our readers will be the first to know.

Underdog Sportsbook Ohio is going to be an exciting addition to the list of Ohio sports betting apps. Underdog Fantasy is already one of the top DFS sites out there, so if Underdog Sportsbook Ohio is anything like the fantasy sports product, Ohio bettors will be very pleased.

Levine’s comments about what he wants Underdog Sportsbook Ohio to look like are exciting to hear, and sports betting can’t come soon enough. Keep this page bookmarked and we'll have updates on Underdog Sportsbook Ohio as we get closer to the launch of the sportsbook in Winter or Spring.
