The Chargers and Eagles will meet Sunday afternoon in Philadelphia with each team coming off very different performances. Week 9 has a bunch of tighter NFL spreads with the Eagles a short 2-point home dog.

Early money – as small as the market is midweek – saw sportsbooks take the majority of money on the Chargers. L.A. comes off a disappointing home loss against the Patriots, while the Eagles hammered the Lions in Detroit.

The game will focus around the QBs, with Justin Herbert and Jalen Hurts being the heart of their respective offenses. Hurts leads his team in rushing and Herbert has thrown under 220 yards just once. Expect the majority of NFL betting in player props to focus around these two.

Check out the latest Chargers vs. Eagles odds ahead of the matchup in Week 9.

Chargers vs. Eagles Key Matchups

Chargers Pass O vs Eagles Pass D: The Chargers have one of the league’s best overall passing offenses, but the Eagles have a sneaky top-10 pass defense. If Justin Herbert can move the ball, it will be trouble for Philadelphia.

Eagles Rush O vs Chargers D: Jalen Hurts is the vehicle behind the Eagles ground game and the Chargers have the 32nd rush defense in the NFL.

Chargers Pass D vs Eagles WRs: The Eagles don’t throw the ball particularly well – 27th overall in the NFL. The Chargers have a top-5 passing defense with a serious pass rush.

Chargers vs. Eagles Key Stats

6 vs 7: The Chargers are 6th in the NFL in throwing the football and the Eagles are 7th in the NFL in stopping the pass. This should be the biggest matchup throughout the game.

14: A major factor in making NFL picks should be a team getting to the QB. Justin Herbert has been sacked 14 times in seven games, and the Eagles get to the quarterback. Philadelphia should be able to apply a ton of pressure up front.

5.0: Austin Ekeler’s average yard per rush through seven games. The Eagles are bottom third in rush defense giving up over 120 yards per game.

131.6: The rushing YPG for the Philadelphia Eagles – led by Hurts. While they won’t run it over 40 times like last weekend, Philadelphia won’t move away from their main strength.

40: Outside of an injured Miles Sanders and QB Jalen Hurts, no other player on the Eagles has 40 or more carries.

2: Mike Williams only has two receptions in each of his last two games.

Chargers vs. Eagles Player Props

Jalen Hurts, Under 230.5 Passing Yards

Odds: -110 at DraftKings

Hurts leads the Eagles in rushing - and will remain the focus against a Chargers team that’s one of the worst in the league in stopping the run.

Boston Scott, Under 44.5 Rushing Yards

Odds: -110 at DraftKings

Scott is in a crowded backfield that is already dealing with the QB leading the team in rushing yards. Scott isn’t going to break a huge run either, so under this number is safe.

DeVonta Smith, Under 57.5 Receiving Yards

Odds: -115 at BetMGM

Smith has been wildly inconsistent over the past four games averaging only 46 receiving ypg over that stretch.

Chargers vs. Eagles Moneyline

We see a tight line from betting sites with this game, including the customary 3-points for the home team. The Eagles aren’t getting huge value on the ML and it’s understandable if you want to wait to see if it increases.

Coming off a big road victory – especially Detroit – is going to hurt the Eagles. Philadelphia has lost each of its last four home games. If you don’t want to take the risk on the Eagles, it’s best to wait to see if the Chargers drop to even money.

Chargers vs. Eagles Point Spread

The Eagles may not be able to move the ball in the air, but they certainly have the advantage on the ground. The problem has been mistakes, be it penalties or turnovers for the Eagles. The Chargers suffered from missed opportunities and a soft defense against the Patriots.

It’s easy to see a letdown for the Eagles and a bounce-back for the Chargers. Trap or not, the play is to take the better team in the Chargers. They are 2-1 on the road, including a win earlier in Washington. You can get the Chargers -2 (-110) at DraftKings.

Chargers vs. Eagles Points Total

While the Eagles have a great pass defense so far, the advantage is with the talent of the Chargers offense. The past two weeks saw better-schemed defenses find ways to take out Mike Williams, ultimately crumbling the Chargers offense.

Darius Slay is one of the better cornerbacks in the NFL, but the Eagles don’t have the scheme or coaching to slow down the Chargers. Plus, the Eagles have multiple big-play guys, from Hurts on the ground to DeVonta Smith and Quez Watkins in the air. Take the Over 50 points at FanDuel (-112).
