NFL Week 13 Sunday Predictions & Picks: Your 5 Best Bets

Adam Thompson | 8 mins

Not a single team this season has covered the NFL line every time it’s been the favorite. The Philadelphia Eagles were 2-0 in that position until losing straight-up to the Giants in Week 12.
Covering as underdogs, however, is a different story. There are a lot of teams who get it done when you give them a few points.
The Arizona Cardinals lead the charge, as a perfect 5-0 against the spread as an underdog. Not only have they been covering but they’ve been doing it without much sweat, covering by a ridiculous average of 21.8 ppg.
The Green Bay Packers (4-0), Baltimore Ravens (2-0) and Buffalo Bills (1-0) have also been perfect in that spot with the Minnesota Vikings (5-1), Tennessee Titans (5-1) and Los Angeles Rams (1-1) each suffering their first non-cover last Sunday.
If you’re looking for an NFL betting favorite to fade, wait until the Pittsburgh Steelers have to lay points at sportsbooks. They’re 0-5 in that spot; every other team that’s been favored at least twice has covered once.
Bookies.com NFL handicapper Adam Thompson has now hit on over 61% of his best bets in the 2021 NFL season, and over 60% each of the last three seasons. Here are his five NFL picks for Week 13:

NFL Sunday Week 13 Best Bets
Eagles ATS over Jets
The Eagles’ coaches failed last Sunday by getting away from what they do best. It cost them in a 13-7 loss to the Giants. Expect a big turnaround here: More running the ball, less Jalen Hurts throwing it. That should work against a Jets defense that’s bottom-five vs. both the run and the pass. New York’s offensive woes only get worse with Keelan Cole and Corey Davis both likely out. (Locked in at -6.5 at BetMGM) ➜

Colts ATS over Texans
Backing Carson Wentz on betting sites is maddening; he can lead teams to wins or single-handedly cost his team the same. But this is the Texans we’re talking about. Indy hammered Houston 31-3 earlier this season and it’s only gotten worse lately for the Texans, who are now bottom-five in total offense and defense. Indy should have beaten the Buccaneers last week. It doesn’t matter where this game is, it shouldn’t be close. Broncos ATS over Chiefs
Denver’s defense is for real, top 10 vs. the run and pass. Kansas City’s D has been the reason for the team’s four-game win streak. The Chiefs offense, for all its perceived firepower, has scored over 20 points just once during this run. Teddy Bridgewater, it’s been well-documented, is a master of keeping games close on the road, with a 24-5 ATS mark all-time. (Locked in at +10 at bet365) ➜
49ers ATS over Seahawks
It’s over for the Seahawks. They’ve gotten by in the recent past on the will of Russell Wilson, but he’s not himself post-surgery. The offense ranks 31st, the defense 32nd – obviously, no team is worse statistically, not even the Texans. Seattle beat San Fran 28-21 in a Week 4 showdown but that feels a million years ago now. That means the surging Niners, who have won three in a row by an average of 16.3 ppg (including wins over the Rams and Vikings) have revenge as an additional motivator. The Seahawks have just one home win all season and that was vs. Jacksonville. Buccaneers Over 30.5 Points
Tom Brady’s Buccaneers have faced the Falcons twice so far, and each time they’ve put up over 40 points. Atlanta, for its part, has finished in the 20s. Blowouts, both games, and there’s little reason to think Tampa will fail to hold up its end of the scoring bargain. We never know what Atlanta is going to bring to the field each week, so choosing the Over or either side on betting apps is a risk. Tampa has put up 30-plus in six of 11 games and at least 24 in all but three games. Atlanta has allowed at least 25 in seven of 11, often against far-worse competition.
