NFC rivals seeking a signature victory face off in the Week 6 edition of Thursday Night Football, as Geno Smith and the Seattle Seahawks host Brock Purdy and the San Francisco 49ers. 

The Seahawks opened the season 3-0 but have since lost two straight, including a head-scratcher last Sunday at home to the Giants. The 49ers are just 2-3, coming off their own stunner at home to the Cardinals.

We look at the 49ers and we wonder what is going on and how this team is 2-3 on the season. They rank in the Top 12 in every passing and rushing statistic on both sides of the ball, but have had issues putting together a full game. 

That can change here. Seattle’s defense is aggressive but prone to mistakes, hence allowing 73 points in the last two weeks to the Giants and Lions. San Fran has won five in a row in this series and only one instance was the margin under 12 points. SF bounces back here; back the Niners as the top play of TNF.

49ers vs. Seahawks Over/Under

This total has risen through the week and for good reason. The Over is 4-1 in Seattle games, the lone miss being a Tua-less Dolphins team scoring three points in Week 3. The Over is 3-2 in Niners games, too, with games against the offense-challenged Rams and Jets both totaling over 50. 

The Niners have talent through all levels of offense and have matchups to exploit. The Seahawks’ pass offense is not to be undervalued, either. Look for points to be scored. It’s a high total, but we lean Over.

San Francisco is -185 on the moneyline, so a $185 wager can win $100 in profit. Seattle is at +154 (wager $100 to win $154 in profit). We like the Niners to cover, but what about a straight-up bid? 

It’s tempting – if we knew which Niners team would show up. Inconsistency has been the hallmark so far. Injuries have played a role in that, though the team was close to full strength vs. Arizona (minus Christian McCaffrey). We like the Niners to leave Seattle with a win, but the odds are a little high for our level of confidence.

Kittle has gone Over this total twice in four games, but he’s yet to finish under 40 yards at all. He had 12 targets, with eight receptions and 64 yards last time out. Brandon Aiyuk

Deebo Samuel was a dud last week in his return to action. Aiyuk was the beneficiary, hauling in eight catches for 147 yards. But expect Deebo to get back to being a key member of the offense and for Aiyuk to lose those yards. He hadn’t gained more than 48 yards in any game prior to last week.
