It’s a must-win game for each side of the Week 9 Monday Night Football matchup, as the winless New York Jets host Cam Newton and the New England Patriots.

The Jets (0-8) have lost every game by at least eight points, while the Patriots (2-5) have dropped four straight. Each team has a lot of ground to gain in the AFC playoff hunt.

New England has covered the NFL betting spread just four out of its last 13 games dating back to last season. New York is only 1-7 ATS this season. Let’s take a look at some of the best bets that fans should consider:

Patriots -7

The Jets have proven to be uncompetitive vs. pretty much everyone this season. The 2020 Patriots certainly have issues, but New England has beaten New York eight straight times. In the past five meetings, the Pats have allowed a single TD. The Jets are averaging 4.8 ppg the past four weeks. It won’t take 35 points for the Pats to cover here. Find top odds for the spread at DraftKings.

Patriots-Jets Under 42.5

5 Patriots vs Jets Betting Lines & Prop Bets to Back on MNF 1

The Jets’ offense ranks dead-last in points and yards, and it’s only gotten worse as the season has progressed. The Patriots’ offense is better but no slam dunk. It can run the ball, but the Jets’ lone strength is slowing the run. The Under has hit in seven of the last eight between these teams. This one has 20-10 written all over it. First Quarter — Under 8.0 Points

These teams aren’t particularly good at scoring, but it’s taken to the extreme at the start of games. The Patriots have managed just seven first-quarter points all season. The Jets aren’t a whole lot better, averaging 2.9 ppg in the opening 15 minutes. The Pats also rank among the best first-quarter defensive units. Damien Harris — Over 75 yards + TD

5 Patriots vs Jets Betting Lines & Prop Bets to Back on MNF 2
Harris, New England’s explosive second-year running back, has had more than 10 carries twice this season. He ran 17 times for 100 yards against the Chiefs and 16 times for 102 yards and a TD vs. the Bills last week. One caveat: Harris bettors must hope Sony Michel, who was just reinstated off the IR, remains limited or held out. The Pats need to establish the run and should get the ball into Harris’ hands often. Adding a TD into the prop triples the odds. Find the best odds for the Harris wager at FOX Bet.

New York Jets — Under 16.5 Points

The Jets scored over 17 points once, and that required a 46-yard TD run by Sam Darnold and a pick-6. The Jets are averaging 11.8 ppg, nearly a full TD less than any other team in the NFL. And, as noted, the situation has only gotten worse. New York has TDs in just 25% of its red-zone chances, 15.9% below the second-worst team. The Patriots’ defense has struggled of late, but there is too much talent, especially in the backfield, to expect a meltdown here. Lock in the Jets under scoring prop at Unibet.
