A string of lackluster Thursday Night Football matchups appears to end in a big way in Week 8, as Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers host Lamar Jackson and the Baltimore Ravens in a marquee NFL betting showdown of Super Bowl hopefuls.

Brady’s Bucs (3-4) have lost four of five, including an embarrassing 21-3 defeat at Carolina last Sunday. Jackson’s Ravens (4-3) are tied with the Bengals atop the competitive AFC North but nothing has come easy, with their last four games decided by four points or less.

The latest Ravens vs. Buccaneers odds on betting apps have Tampa Bay at -2, a notable swing from Baltimore -1.5 earlier in the week. The Over/Under for total points is set at 46.

Bookies.com NFL handicapper Adam Thompson – who hit on 63% of his NFL best bets the last four weeks – reveals his plays for the marquee NFC-AFC matchup.

Ravens vs. Buccaneers Point Spread Pick

Tampa’s struggles have made headlines, but as noted earlier, Baltimore isn’t exactly blowing teams out of the water. They haven’t covered any spread since Week 3 and have just one cover in the last seven matchups against sub-.500 teams.

Brady’s team hasn’t covered the spread since Week 2, so it’s not any better. One matchup that puts us on the home Bucs is Baltimore’s 27th-ranked pass defense. If Tampa Bay can start strong at home, the trajectory of the game changes. We’ll back the contrarian play with the Buccaneers

Ravens vs. Buccaneers Over/Under Best Bet

Ravens games this season have averaged 48.9 ppg, more than a field goal above the posted total here of 45.5 on sports betting sites. But Baltimore allows just 19.7 ppg in road games, compared to 25.7 ppg at home. Tampa Bay games only average 35.4 ppg, way under the total for this one.

The Under has trended for both sides, hitting in the last four Ravens games and in all but one Buccaneers game this season (the exception being vs. the Chiefs). All that said, the matchups favor the Over. Baltimore’s games since Week 1 have totaled 43, 44, 36, 43, 63 and 80, so even the Unders have had points. Add a Brady-led team that is going to throw 45 times against one of the bottom pass Ds, and we’ll see scoring. Take the Over on Thursday night

Ravens vs. Buccaneers Moneyline Pick

The latest NFL lines have Tampa Bay at -125 on the moneyline to win straight up, while Baltimore is at +105. Baltimore is winning games, Tampa Bay isn’t, but the Bucs are at home where they lost just once last year.

The home team is 4-2 on Thursday Night Football, the exception being the 12-9 and 12-7 decisions when Denver and Chicago hosted TNF snoozers. We liked Tampa Bay when they were available at plus odds earlier in the week. Now they're favored, we'd stick with the spread.

Best Ravens vs. Buccaneers Player Props

Tom Brady, Over 281.5 Pass Yards

Odds: -110 at BetMGM

Only three teams have allowed more pass yards than the Ravens. Only two teams have allowed more yards to wide receivers, which is not good news assuming Mike Evans suits up alongside Chris Godwin.

Brady has eclipsed this total in three of his last four games. In each Over, he’s had 49 to 52 attempts. The last two times he’s faced the Ravens defense, he threw for 406 and 285 yards. Against this year’s defense, and with a struggling run unit, expect a similar drop-back total for TB12.

Gus Edwards, Over 47.5 Rushing Yards

Odds: -115 at DraftKings

Edwards made his season debut at the time J.K. Dobbins was re-hitting the shelf due to injury. Gus got 16 carries and gained 66 yards with two TDs, solidifying his RB1 slot with Dobbins on injured reserve.

Tampa Bay has given up at least 151 rush yards in three of its last four games. Lamar is going to get his runs, but Edwards gets the rest. If he gets close to 16 carries again against a Bucs defense that gives up 4.4 yards per carry, he can get Over this mark.

Maryland Sports Betting Update For Ravens Fans

While Maryland sports betting won't be legal in time for this game between Tampa Bay and Baltimore, Ravens fans will be pleased to know it's coming soon. The latest information suggests a mobile sports betting launch before the end of 2022 is very likely. After the Bucs game, the Ravens face the Saints before going on their bye.

Maryland mobile sports betting could be live when Baltimore returns to host the Carolina Panthers on Nov. 20.
