The 2025 NFL season kicks off Sept. 4, with the defending champion Philadelphia Eagles hosting the Dallas Cowboys at Lincoln Financial Field.

The Eagles and their fans will celebrate their 40-22 Super Bowl 59 win over the Kansas City Chiefs before opening the season in prime time.

Offseason Changes For Eagles, Cowboys

Both teams made significant offseason moves. The Eagles lost several key players and made changes to the coaching staff. The Cowboys enter 2025 under new leadership.

Key Eagles departures via free agency include Josh Sweat, Milton Williams, Darius Slay, Avonte Maddox, Fred Johnson, Oren Burks, Mekhi Becton, and Parris Campbell.

Philadelphia's notable additions:

Defense: Josh Uche, Azeez Ojulari

Offense: Adoree' Jackson, Terrace Marshall Jr., Kylen Granson, Harrison Bryant, A.J. Dillon, Kenyon Green, Dorian Thompson-Robinson

Coaching changes:

Kevin Patullo replaces Kellen Moore as offensive coordinator. Moore is now head coach of the New Orleans Saints.

Parks Frazier is the new passing game coordinator.

Scot Loeffler joins as quarterbacks coach.

For the Cowboys, the most notable change came at the top: Mike McCarthy was replaced as head coach by former offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer.

Key additions for Dallas include WR George Pickens (via trade), QB Joe Milton, RB Miles Sanders, EDGE Dante Fowler, and WR Parris Campbell.

NFL Schedule Release Week Begins

The season opener was the first game revealed during the league’s annual “Schedule Week.” More marquee matchups from CBS, FOX, Amazon Prime, and Netflix will be released over the next two days.

On Tuesday, the NFL will announce its 7 international games. The full regular-season schedule will be unveiled Wednesday at 8 p.m. ET.

NFL Week 1 Odds: Eagles Favored Over Cowboys

The early NFL betting line has Philadelphia as a 7-point favorite over Dallas in the season opener, with a total of 46.5 points.

In 2024, the Eagles went 18-3 straight up and led the NFL against the spread at 14-7, with an average cover margin of +6.8 points.

Philadelphia enters the 2025 season as the +650 favorite to repeat as Super Bowl champions. The Buffalo Bills are the +700 AFC favorite, while the Cowboys are long shots at +6000.

Eagles NFC odds: +310 to win the conference, -140 to win the NFC East

Projected win totals:

Eagles: 11.5 wins (O/U -115)

Cowboys: 7.5 wins (Under -130, Over +110)

Early Opening Night Prediction: Bet The Eagles -7

Buzz: The Eagles return key offensive stars, including Jalen Hurts, Saquon Barkley, and A.J. Brown, ensuring continuity on that side of the ball.

Dallas will have a new head coach but some stability on offense. However, Philly’s pass rush may not dominate Dak Prescott the way it overwhelmed Patrick Mahomes in the Super Bowl.

Still, expect a fired-up crowd and a confident Eagles squad to make a statement in Week 1.

Pick: Eagles -7
