Giulio Zeppieri vs Casper Ruud

For a second match in a row, last year’s finalist Casper Ruud will take on a qualifier. Talk about a nice draw, so far.

Ruud beat Sweden’s Elias Ymer, 6-4, 6-3, 6-2. Next up is Giulio Zeppieri, who advanced through qualifying without dropping a set.

The Italian should give Ruud a sterner test in his bid to reach the third round. Zeppieri overcame Alexander Bublik in a five-set marathon, rallying from a 1-2 (sets) deficit to win. He could take a set off Ruud at the very least.

French Open Best Bet: Ruud in four sets +225 at BetMGM

Jannik Sinner vs Daniel Altmaier

Jannik Sinner was red-hot in his opener, dropping six games in a 6-1, 6-4, 6-1 win over Alexandre Muller. He will take on Daniel Altmaier in the R64, who also advances without dropping a set to Andre Huesler. But there the similarity ends between them.

Sinner is one of the players to spot at the French Open, a legitimate contender as per the  sportsbook exchange. His arsenal of weapons dwarfs anything Altmaier brings to the table. Expect the 21-year-old Italian to come through with relative ease.

French Open Best Bet: Sinner (-7.5) -140 at Caesars

Aslan Karatsev vs Frances Tiafoe

Get the popcorn ready because this could be a cracking matchup that goes the distance. Understandably, bookmakers favor the American Frances Tiafoe, who’s coming off a decent European clay swing after winning the Houston Open (clay).

But Russia’s Aslan Karatsev, a former Top 20 player and an Australian Open semi-finalist, is going to be a tough out. Karatsev stormed through qualifying without dropping a set. Then, he overcome Alexei Popyrin in four sets in the first round.

Considering an upset can’t be ruled out entirely a bet on the number of sets irrespective of the winner is the recommended betting strategy here.

French Open Best Bet: Five sets at +225 at Bet365

Tommy Paul vs Nicolas Jarry

American Tommy Paul will face stiff competition from clay specialist Nicolas Jarry in a match that could go either way.

Jarry is the distinct favorite, if ever so slightly, as we look at the latest tennis odds. The Chilean is coming off a title in Geneva last week and is brimming with confidence in Paris.. That said, Paul isn’t without a shot here.

His athleticism, defensive abilities and solid return game give him a reasonable chance to defy the sports betting markets.

French Open Best Bet: Over (39.5) -105 at BetMGM

Holger Rune vs Gael Monfils

Holger Rune and Gael Monfils promise to bring the house down when they take to centre court on Thursday night. Monfils survived an epic five-set marathon against Sebastian Baez, rallying from 0-4 in the fifth set all the while battling severe cramps to take it in the tiebreaker.

Whether Monfils will have anything left in the tank for Holger Rune remains to be seen. But the veteran Frenchman is a natural showman, a fan favorite that is sure to give it his all, if only to give the partisan crowd something to cheer about.

French Open Best Bet: Over (31.5) -110 at Caesars

Elena Rybakina vs Linda Noskova

World No. 4 Elena Rybakina is tipped among the oddsmakers’ favorites to win the Roland Garros title.  She’s the reigning Wimbledon champion, the 2023 Australian Open finalist and has two Masters titles to her credit this season, including the Italian Open (her first-ever clay title).

Rybakina will be looking to extend her winning  run to eight straight matches when she takes on Czech teenager Linda Noskova (No. 50 in the WTA rankings) in the R64. While her championship pedigree, experience and higher ranking establish her as the runaway favorite in tennis-betting markets, there’s more to this matchup than meets the eye – namely surface advantage.

The Czech thrived on this surface in the juniors, even winning the girl’s French Open title two years ago. It’s not everything, but it’s a fascinating dynamic that should make this a competitive contest.

French Open Best Bet: Noskova (+5.5) +102 at FanDuel

Iga Swiatek vs Claire Liu

World No. 1 and defending champion Iga Swiatek was in top form as she dismissed Cristina Bucsa 6-4, 6-0 in the R128. Next up is American Claire Liu (No. 105), a player that she beat in similar fashion (6-1, 6-0) in Indian Wells in March. Need one say more?

French Open Best Bet: Swiatek (-7.5) -118 at FanDuel

Coco Gauff vs Julia Grabner

Upset alert! Last year’s French Open finalist Coco Gauff arrived in Paris in questionable form. Although she overcame her first round opponent Rebeka Masarova, coming from a set down to win in three.

She faces an in-form Julia Grabner, who is coming off a final appearance at the Rabat Open.

French Open Best Bet: Grabner +610 at FanDuel
